Geopolitical Regions

Latin America
Latin America is a region of the Americas where Spanish, Portuguese and
French are primarily spoken, about 6% of the population speaks other
languages such as Quechua, Mayan languages, Guaran, Aymara,
Nahuatl, English, French, Dutch and Italian.
The inhabitants of Latin America are of a variety of ancestries, ethnic
groups, and races, making the region one of the most diverse in the world.
Many have a predominance of European-Amerindian, or Mestizo,
population.
Most Latin Americans are Christians. About 70% of the Latin American
population consider themselves Catholic.

North America
North America is a continent partially within the Northern
Hemisphere and Western Hemisphere. The main languages in North
America are English, Spanish, and French. The term Anglo-America is used
to refer to the English speaking countries America: Canada (where English
and French are the official language) and the United States.
The largest and most advanced Pre-Columbian civilizations in North
America were the Aztecs in what is now Mexico and the Mayans in Central
America.
European colonists began to arrive starting in the 16th and 17th centuries,
wiping out large numbers of the native populations and beginning an era
of European dominance.
Economically, Canada and the United States are the wealthiest and
most developed nations in the continent, followed by Mexico.
Religion in each of the North American countries is dominated
by Christianity, making it the largest religion in North America.




Western Europe
Western Europe is the region made out of the western countries of Europe.


The languages of Western Europe are all related. All Western European
languages have been influenced by Latin, Greek, ancient Celtic and
ancient Germanic such as Italian and Spanish.
Countries described as Western European are high-income and developed
countries, characterized by democratic political systems.
Religion in all Europe has been a major influence
on art, culture, philosophy and law.
The largest religion in Western Europe for at least a millennium and a half
has been Christianity, introduced in the Roman Empire in the late 4th
century.

Eastern Europe

Eastern Europe is a region that includes many different cultures, ethnicities,
languages, and histories. The countries classified as being a part of Eastern
Europe have one thing in common: they were all behind the Iron Curtain
before its fall after Second World War
The Slavic language group is the largest group of languages in the region.
This group includes Russian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, Czech and Slovak, Polish,
Macedonian, and the Serbo-Croatian languages.
There are about 17 countries in Eastern Europe; they vary considerably in
religious affiliation. They are mostly Orthodox or Roman Catholic and some
Protestants. You can also find Muslim and Jewish followers.

Southeast Asia
Southeast Asia or Southeastern Asia is region of Asia, consisting of the
countries that are geographically south of China, east of India, west of New
Guinea and north of Australia.
The major religions are Buddhism and Islam, followed by Christianity.
However, a wide variety of religions are found throughout the region
like Hinduism.
The region's economy greatly depends on agriculture; rice and rubber have
been prominent exports. Manufacturing and services are becoming more
important.
Each country in this region has a local language.


Middle East


The modern version of the Middle East sits where Africa, Asia and Europe
meet.
The Middle East is today home to numerous long established ethnic groups,
including; Arabs, Turks, Persians, Jews, among others.
The Middle East is very diverse when it comes to religions, many of which
originated there. Islam is by far the largest religion in the Middle East, but
other religions that originated there, such as Judaism and Christianity, are
also well represented.
The five top languages, in terms of numbers of speakers,
are Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Berber, and Kurdish.
The economies range from being very poor nations (such as Gaza and
Yemen) to extremely wealthy nations (such as Qatar, UAE and Saudi
Arabia).

Sub-Saharan Africa
Sub-Saharan Africa is the area of the continent of Africa that lies south of
the Sahara Desert. The Sub-Saharan region is often referred to as Black
Africa, in reference to its numerous black populations.
Sub-Saharan Africa has the biggest diversity of languages. This is apparent
in the number of languages spoken. There are over 1,000 languages
spoken.
Sub-Saharan Africa is one of the poorest regions in the world. Poverty
reduction has been slow and irregular in this region of Africa.
Sub-Saharan Africa has a very high child mortality rate.
Sub-Saharan Africa is mostly Christian.

North Africa
North Africa is the northern region of the African continent; it includes seven
countries or territories: Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia and
Western Sahara.
Arabic is by far the most widely spoken language in North Africa. Other
languages include: French, Hausa and Berber.
The largest ethnic groups in North Africa are the Arabs. North Africa is
predominantly Muslim, with small Christian and Jewish minorities.
