Although our next edition of The Cornerstone wont come out for a while, there
are a number of updates and items you need to know aboutexciting news I
know you dont want to miss! So take note, and be sure to print and post this
special edition on your fridge

SUMMER WORSHIP BEGINS JULY 6 at 9:30 a.m.
As a way to get a jump on the heat, we begin our Sunday Worship at 9:30 a.m. in the
months of July and August. Be sure to join us for fellowship which follows, and stay
connected with your church family, and with God! Communion will be served on July 6
and August 3.


THRIFT SHOP OPENING SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER 14
As part of our sustainability vision, we are opening a Thrift Shop at First Church, which will operate
on Saturdays and perhaps one afternoon each week. We have cleaned out the big room in the
basement of the church, painted, cleaned and prepped it so were ready for its debut this fall. We are
seeking donations and heres what we need:
August 1 we will accept Fall and Halloween items (adult and teen clothing, small
household items, used books, toys, childrens clothing)
September 1 we will accept Christmas and winter items (adult and teen clothing, small
household items, used books, toys, childrens clothing)
an iron, an ironing board, plastic hangers (no metal or wire, please).
VOLUNTEERS! If you would like to help out a few hours each month, please see Della
Domas.
Please note: all donated items must be in VERY GOOD, CLEAN and SALEABLE
condition.


SAVE THE DATE! CHRISTMAS IN IRELANDRIGHT HERE IN
UNIONVILLE!!!
First Church of Christ is hosting Christmas in Ireland, an Irish themed Christmas
concert and variety show (family friendly) in our Sanctuary on Thursday,
December 4, 2014. Details on tickets and more will be available soon, but be sure
to get the date on your calendar now. This is a signature fundraising event for our
church, and an opportunity to celebrate the holiday season in a special way!


CHRISTIAN EDUCATION COORDINATOR
First Church of Christ, Unionville seeks CE Coordinator to build Sunday School/faith formation
program for elementary age children, working with Pastor and dedicated lay leaders. Must have
strong commitment to the Christian faith, teaching and/or leadership experience with children, and
ability to use technology and social media effectively. Please email resume, cover letter to Rev.

GROCERY STORE GIFT CARDS---a win/win for everyone!
Boy Scout Troop 170, which we sponsor, has offered to let us participate in
their grocery store gift card fundraiser and share in the profits. Heres how it
works:
You purchase gift cards for either Stop & Shop or Shop Rite, and get
your groceries as you normally would. It costs you nothing extra.
Each month, our church receives a check for 5% of the amount of the gift
cards that the congregation purchases. Its that simple!
Cards are available in $50 and $100 amounts. You may purchase cards
from Cyndi Vallario after church each week. An order form will also be
available in the narthex.
Please make checks payable to Troop 170 BSA.
What an easy way to help bring in extra income for the church! Special thanks to the Scouts for
helping us out!
