FROM THE DIRECTOR'S DESK
Dear all
Greetings!
Kids often watch the matches and want to play like their role models be it Nadal,
Federer or Murray.
First thing that they want to copy is to play big shots and hit winners.
There is more to it guys..
One of the most important part of the game is the rally ball. Rally ball gives you a strong base or
foundation for building up a good point.
It is like saying one will construct a great building without a solid foundation or aspire to become
NASA Scientist without proper education and training.
What is Rally ball?
Rally ball is the foundation of building up a point. Rest of the game is based around the ability
to hit good quality rally balls to be able to keep the opponent at bay and prevent them from
attacking you and at the same time create the opportunity to build up an attacking shot.
When we watch the pros play in a match they are hitting big shots only after they have been
able to get their opponents off balance by moving them around with good fast rally balls and
waiting for the opportunity to go for the kill.
Importance :
It keeps your opponent at bay and can draw errors as it does not give an opportunity to the
opponent to attack and by taking risks to attack rally ball it can end up inducing errors.

How does this help?
Rally ball helps you from not taking unnecessary risk by keeping it simple and build the point
up by moving the ball around and yet making it very difficult for the opponent to attack .
By moving the ball around it gives you an opening to play the big shots.

Key Points to develop quality rally ball :
o Good early set up ( reaching the ball before the bounce and set up)
o using the legs and the body to keep the consistency and maintain quality. It is imperative
that while training, we spend a lot of time developing a quality rally ball.
So good luck and keep working hard..
