digital only. Tis second generation Bitcoin ATM
is moderately priced at just $7500. Te units bank-

Bit2Bit rolling out what is believed
to be Brisbanes frst machine on
May 16.
Te Bitcoin machine, which is
housed at Te Roastery Caf in
South Brisbane, will be sent live on
Friday allowing digital currency
users to securely exchange hard
cash for the cryptocurrency or vice
versa.
Resembling a standard banking
ATM, customers can register for
a Bitcoin wallet via the machine
within fve minutes, use or sell
Bitcoins at the market price, add
currency to their virtual wallets by
feeding in cash, and sell Bitcoins to
extract money.
Te Roastery Caf already accepts
Bitcoin as alternative payment,
meaning customers can pay for
their cofee or cake via the worlds
most popular electronic currency.
Bruce Carrall, co-owner of Rouge
Cofee, said the addition of
Brisbanes frst Bitcoin ATM to Te
Roastery Caf will make it easier
and more accessible for everyone
to trade in digital currency.
Weve seen a surge of interest
from the mainstream population

Bitcoin movement, he said.
Te currency has grown more
than one thousand per cent each
year for the past four years, and

have privacy shields on the touch screen and are WiFi,

Te palm vein scanner is a great identifying metric. Tis
data can uniquely identify customers but is a useless
metric outside of the Robocoin Kiosk. Tere currently
is no palm vein database in the world.
For further protection of customer accounts, only the
Bitcoins needed to maintain operational liquidity are
stored in the machines hot wallets. Te bulk of funds
are protected and are stored in a secure ofine system.
Sending money to friends and family is now as easy as
typing in a phone number, even if the recipient doesnt
have a Robocoin account they can still receive money.
Robocoin machines are now in operation across 13
diferent countries and accept transactions in at least 12
separate national currencies and one machine can hold
upwards of $500,000 in cash.
Robocoin online accounts are open for trade from any
branch.
Starting in July, Los Angeles Bitcoin users will have

Nautilus Hyosung
ATM Manufacturer
Nautilus Hyosung is the top bank ATM manufacturer in
Korea and also holds a large share of the world market.
Te company has an agreement and joint venture with
South Korean exchange service Coinplug. Coinplug has
installed a two-way machine manufactured by Nautilus
Hyosung in the Cofee Sedona cafe which is located in the
basement of the Coex Mall. Tis is one of Koreas largest
shopping malls near the Intercontinental Hotel in the
Gangnam district.
Its important to note that while the machine came
from Nautilus Hyosung, the payment module sofware
operating inside the unit was created by Coinplug. Te
unit provides two-way service delivering both cash-to-
digital and Bitcoin-to-cash transactions. More Nautilus
Hyosung Bitcoin machines are planned for Korea in the
months ahead.
It is reported that the Coinplug ATM does not require or
collect any biometric information on the user and no ID
is required. Te unit has a low daily maximum transaction
limit of 3 x 300,000 KRW (3 x $280usd) total per day. Visit

Project Skyhook

Skyhook produces the frst open source commercial
Bitcoin ATM available for under $1000. Tis is
a one-way machine, accepting cash and vending
Bitcoin. Te commercial units were launched in May
and since then the Portland, Oregon company has
shipped 150 units stating that 70 had been shipped in
June! Because of its low cost, the Skyhook machine
is unique and ofers a portable alternative to other
well known market brands. Te company now aims
to sell 1,000 units before the end of this year.
Te concept behind the Skyhook machine is to build
a low-cost ATM using open-source hardware and
sofware. Small and light, the Skyhook ATM also
makes it simple for any size cryptocurrency business
to quickly become a Bitcoin exchange service.
Te price of Bitcoin sold from this unit is
automatically set through major cryptocurrency
exchanges at the time of the transaction. Operators
have the option to set a fee based on a percentage
rate and a minimum price if so desired.
Skyhook is easy to set up, and the unit comes with
a step-by-step operators guide. All you need is a
power cable, a wired or Wi-Fi connection, and some
Bitcoins.
A touchscreen graphical interface makes transactions
painless. A quick scan of the customers QR code
and the purchased Bitcoins are sent instantly to the
Bitcoin wallet.
Skyhook is the lightest commercial Bitcoin ATM.
Te unit is very secure ofering a durable security
mounting plate which allows it to be permanently
attached to its location.
Skyhook ATMs can accept dozens of national

Life Imitating Art?
Mechanical Bitcoin vending machine from the
summer of 2012.
Tis photo shows an original Bitcoin vending
machine. Not meant for commercial operation,
this was artwork created for the universitys
summer exhibition by Max F. Albrecht entitled
Bitcoin Vending Machine. It was produced for
the Fine Art Project Panta Rhei at the Bauhaus-
University in Weimar, mentored by Prof. Norbert
W. Hinterberger and Naomi T. Salmon. Tis
Bitcoin vending machine converted 1 coins
into their equivalent Bitcoin value. Te machine
dispersed a little box containing a link to an
easywallet.org webwallet valued at 1 (minus the
material costs).
No electricity or Internet connection was required.
Tat summer, Bitcoins were priced at about $9
each. When a coin was inserted, the machine
vended this small cardboard box, shown below,
which contained the printed receipt for retrieval
of the Bitcoins.
