INTRODUCTION
Dharma Bharathi Mission (DBM) is a socio-spiritual organisation for nation-building . It was
founded in 2003 by Acharya Sachidananda Bharathi. DBM is responsible to provide moral
and spiritual leadership to the Second Freedom Struggle for a hunger-free, caste-free and
corruption-free India. This Second Freedom Struggle of India was initiated on 30th January
2008 from Gandhi Mandapam, Kanyakumari, in the concluding prayer meeting of the year-
long Desh Vandana-2007 undertaken by Swami Sachidananda Bharathi.
DBM has been functioning under the able leadership of Sri. Paramjeet Singh, IRS who has
been serving as its National President ever since its re-dedication to God at Kanyakumari on
30th Jan 2008 as the core organisation for and within the Second Freedom Struggle of
India.
30th Jan 2008 is now adopted as the formal Foundation Day of DBM and the Second
Freedom Struggle of India. An Annual National Convention (ANC) is being organized by
the National Coordination Council of DBM every year on 29-31 January to celebrate this
Foundation Day of DBM and to evaluate and reorient the Second Freedom Struggle of
India.
The first ANC was held at Sevagram Ashram, Wardha on 29-31 Jan 2009. The Second ANC
was held on 29-31 Jan 2010 at Mumbai, and the third at Nagpur. The 4th ANC was held once
again at Sevagram Ashram, Wardha.
The fifth ANC was also held at Sevagram Ashram, Wardha. The most important Campaign
within the Second Freedom Struggle of India termed 'Enlightened National Poltics' (ENP)
was initiated on 30th Jnauray 2013 during this 5th ANC.
'Dharma Bharathi Ashram' at Mulanthuruthy near Kochi is the spiritual home for members of
DBM. Even though Sadguru Jesus Christ is honoured as the Power and Spirit of the Ashram,
Dharma Bharathi Ashram is not part of any Church or religion. The Ashramites respect all
religions and its distinct traditions. The Logo of DBM represents our three fold
understanding of God and Truth.
A DBM National Center is being established at Shativanam Ashram in Rama Village near
Nagpur. Future ANCs will be held in this Ashram.
DBM functions as a network of autonomous local Units with minimum of 11 members.
DBM has been active in Mumbai, Lucknow, Kerala and Nagpur. Out of these 4 Local Units
of DBM, the Mumbai Unit has been doing very well under the direct guidance and leadership
of Sri. Paramjeet Singh. DBM-Mumbai has already won two prestigious awards for dedicated
and meritorious service in the NGO sector.
DBM is envisioned to have 5 Wings as part of its family tree. These five Wings will be
akin to the five fingers of DBM which is called by destiny and history to function as a
Divine Hand acting in the history of India for the regeneration and reconstruction of this
8

ancient land of religions. The 5 envisioned Wings are Teachers Wing (Guru Krupa)
functioning as the thumb, Women's Wing ('Mathru Shakti') functioning as the index finger,
Youth Wing ('Yuva Shakti') functioning as the middle finger, People's Wing ('Lok Shakti')
functioning as the fourth finger, and Students' Wing ( 'Dharma Jyothi') functioning as the
little finger.
DBM is placed under the legal ownership of Navasrushti International Trust. It functions
according to its Manual approved by NIT and published by Navasrushti Publications. The
DBM Manual is being revised from time to time by the National Coordination Council of
DBM based on new experiences and insights that are being gained in its evolutionary growth.
This is being done under the advice and guidance of the Acharya-guru of DBM.

combination of livelihood and life skills training programs to the youth. Some of the training
programs are:

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

The government of India and the state authorities worked for the economic betterment and
development of women in India. Key instruments for supporting womens empowerment are
self-help groups, whereby 10-20 women from the same slum, mostly poor women come
together to contribute two-weekly or monthly dues as savings and provide group loans to
their members. DBM has formed two self-help groups (SHG), to enable them transform their
lives by advising and training members in a variety of income generating activities.

The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon is Indias largest charity platform for non-profit

by an easy-to-use model designed for all people to raise funds for their preferred cause/NGO.

this is a special category meant for those highly motivated individuals who feel passionately

cause for which money is being donated is credible.
Charity Bibs
Charity Bibs is one more opportunity for individuals to secure participation at the Standard
Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2014. Most NGOs listed with us have a fixed number of charity
bibs available with them. These bibs are unique as they can be used for any race category a
participant wishes to participate in. Such charity bibs will be available at a premium with
these NGOs, the proceeds going for the benefit of the chosen NGO.

14

Major Activities
Mumbai Marathon is going to be on 19
th
of January 2014, for people to participate in it, it is
mandatory to purchase a charity bib which is a registration number. This charity bib can be
bought through a Ngo by supporting their cause and funding them for social causes.
Our objective was to target clients and sell them charity bibs. Firstly we tried to create buzz
of our product and created awareness through social media and other runners forum and
blogs.
We updated our status and showed availability of charity bibs which converted some enquiry
calls.

product to actually selling it to the buyers. All the various leanings are listed below:-
Group Co-ordination
Persuasion skill
Discipline
Punctuality
Responsibilities

We learn about group cohesion and what are the pitfalls lies in between storming to forming a
group. We learn how to persuade customer to buy our charity bibs.
