Winston Churchill Memorial Trust

Do you work across the wide field of Design, Heritage Crafts or Carpentry? Would you
benefit from travelling overseas to meet others with the same specialism as you? The
Winston Churchill Memorial Trust are seeking people working in carpentry, traditional
heritage crafts, the applied arts in architecture, interiors, product and graphic
design. The Designers category is the first year of a joint partnership with the British
Council, as part of their new development programme for architects and designers.
Successful applicants in this category will be eligible to apply to the British Council's
Architecture, Design and Fashion department for a grant to follow up their Churchill
Fellowship. These grants will help with events, exhibitions and further international

Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowship
The Trust awards travel grants to men and women who will be able to undertake research
overseas and on their return disseminate their new knowledge and examples of best
practice. Applicants must demonstrate that their project will have a wider benefit within their
community or field, in addition to their own personal development. You must be over 18, and
a British Citizen under the 1981 Nationality Act, who must also be resident in the UK. No
qualifications are required.

Heritage Grants over 2 Million and under 5 Million (UK)
The Heritage Lottery Fund has announced the next closing date for applications to its
Heritage Grants scheme for project of over 2 million and under 5 million is the 7th August
2014. Under the Heritage Grants scheme funding is available for projects that relate to the
national, regional or local heritage of the UK. Activities that can be funded include Historic
buildings; Archaeological sites; Collections of objects, books or documents in museums,
libraries or archives; natural and designed landscapes and gardens; and People's memories
and experiences (often recorded as oral history'); etc. HLF welcome applications from single
not for profit organisations and partnerships led by the not for profit sector. In addition, the
HLF also makes grants of 100,000 - 2 million and grants in excess of 5 million. These

British Film Institute - Programming Development Fund Opens
for Applications (UK)
The British Film Institute (BFI) has announced that the next application deadline for strand 3
of its Programming Development Fund is 1pm on the 1st December 2014. The fund which is
worth up to 1.4m per year to 2017 is designed to empower programmers and exhibitors to
bring specialised and independent British films to audiences across the UK in fresh and
original ways. There are three funding strands:
Strand 1 is designed to support the development costs of a project which requires feasibility,
testing or piloting in advance of a full project proposal. Awards will be within the range of
5,000-20,000;
Strand 2 is designed to support projects which have been fully developed and are ready for
implementation. Awards will be within the range 15,000-150,000;
and Strand 3 is designed to support very large-scale projects only. Awards in this Strand will
be in the range 150,000 - 500,000. Applications to strand 1 and 2 can be made at any
time.

Wingate Foundation Music Grants Programme (UK)
The Wingate Foundation has announced that its Music Grants programme is open to
applications. The Music Grants programme supports those areas of music performance and
education which do not readily attract backing from commercial sponsors or other funding
bodies, or which are not eligible for public funding. Priority will be given to those
organisations which give opportunities to young professionals and to education projects for
young people as well as for new adult audiences. This would include direct assistance as
well as funding for organisations which promote their work or performance, and support for
Master Classes. Previous projects supported include;
the National Children's Orchestra which received a grant of 15,000 per year for three years
to give musically talented children under the age of 14 the opportunity of playing together in
full, age-banded symphony orchestras;
and the Drake Music Project which received a grant of 10,000 to address the imbalance in
music provision for disabled people by delivering a range of music technology driven
projects.

EU Launches New Funding Round for Capacity Building in the
Field of Youth (UK)
The European Commission has launched a new call for proposals under the new Erasmus +
Programme. This is the Commission's new programme for Education, Training, Youth and
Sport for 2014-2020. This call for proposals focuses on capacity building in the field of
Youth. Capacity Building projects are transnational cooperation projects based on
multilateral partnerships between organisations active in the field of youth and can also
involve organisations from the fields of education and training, as well as from other socio-
economic sectors. Grants of up to 150,000 are available for projects lasting from 9 months
to 2 years. The funding is available to any public or private body active in the fields of
education, training, youth and sport. This can include non-profit organisations, and
association, NGO (including European Youth NGOs); a national Youth Council; and public
bodies at local, regional or national level.

Funding to Maximise the Synergies between Tourism & High
End Creative Industries (UK)
European Commission has issued a new call for proposals to maximise the synergies
between tourism, high-end and creative industries. The objective of this call is to support the
development of one (new) European tourism route around one high-end / luxury product.
The call is open to three high-end products. These are:
Perfume,
Chocolate.
Jewellery.
This call is open to a transnational partnerships covering 5 countries. Partnerships can
consist of a wide range of organisations including public authorities, chambers of
Commerce, research establishment, Tour Operators, etc. Applicants are free to propose
any kind of action in line with this call's objectives such as:
Market analysis leading to the identification of a common theme related to the European
cultural or industrial heritage;
Mapping of attractions/sites/destinations and tourism and cultural services that could be
linked to the identified theme;
Identification of additional partners, key stakeholders and sponsors, etc.
The expected result is the development and/or promotion of a European Route crossing over
at least 5 Member States and showing key steps of the product's value chain. The total
funding available is 400,000 to support one project. The deadline for applications is 5pm

British Council & BFI partner are running the Creative Europe
Desk UK
The European Commissions seven-year funding programme for the cultural and creative
sectors has been launched in the UK with 1.46bn available to the audio-visual, cultural and
creative industries. The Creative Europe programme is being delivered through the UKs
Creative Europe Desk, a partnership between the BFI (The British Film Institute) and the
British Council. It combines the European Commissions existing Culture and MEDIA
Programmes and is expected to benefit over 300,000 cultural professionals and reach 100
million European citizens. To help promote the programme and to provide information and
advice to support applications, the European Commission is funding a Creative Europe
Desk in all member states.

The new service offers advice and support to UK cultural organisations wanting to broker
effective European and international partnerships. Led by the British Council and BFI,
Creative Europe Desk UK brings together partners from across the UK including Arts
Council England, Arts Council Northern Ireland, Northern Ireland Screen, Creative Scotland
and Arts Council Wales and the Welsh Government, and has a dedicated information office
in each of the UKs nations, and in one of the English regions outside of London. Read more
