12a. What do the blue and lavender areas indicate?
- The blue and lavender areas indicate the areas where the water level has
risen
Orange and red?
- The orange and red areas indicate where the water level in the aquifer
has depleted

12b. Where was the Aquifer most depleted?
- It was most depleted in southwest Kansas and northwest Texas
Where was it rising?
- It was rising in the southern and northern points of the aquifer

12c. Does the whole aquifer act like bathtub?
- No it does not. Some areas have higher or lower levels depending how
much it has been mined. The areas where it has been mined from form a
cone of depression.
Roughly how large are single compartments of the aquifer?
- about 80-120 miles across

12d. Would the groundwater use by farmers in one part of Kansas influence the
water levels for people 25 miles away?
- Yes

12e. Does the Aquifer appear to have uniformly sized compartments or do they vary
in size in different regions
- The aquifer does not have a uniform size, it varies depending on the
region
Where do they appear smaller?
- The aquifer appears to get smaller as you move farther away from the
main part of it and toward the edges of the aquifer.
Where do they appear larger?
- They appear larger in the center area of the aquifer where most of the
mining has occurred

12f. What problems can you envision for households, farms, and industries in areas
colored orange on the map?
- I would imagine that these people are eventually going to have a water
shortage after the aquifer has been depleted. They may have to build
deeper wells to access deeper lying groundwater.

13a. What is similar in these two maps considering both patterns and quantities?
- Both maps shows the water declining in the same areas

13b What are the most marked changes between the two maps regarding declines
and rises in water levels? In which state do they occur?
- The second map has more substantial declines and less rises in the water
levels than in the older map. The water level changes primarily in Texas
and Kansas
