Pulpi the octopus

By Teresa Alvarez (May 2012)

About copyright: Its really something great when people like what I have designed.
You can sell the final item or whatever you like, but it would be nice to reference
where you found the pattern!

If there is anything you do not understand or there are any mistakes, please, send
me a message!
As you can see in the way I write, English is not my first language. So, you could
come across some mistakes and grammatical inconsistencies. Sorry and my
apologies!
This octopus is fun and fast to crochet. I have use pure wool to make it and decided
to felt it. I think the toy is lovely before (cover pic) and after (last pic in the pattern)
felting.

ABOUT YARN:
Any yarn would do nicely.
Ive used around 120-130gr. of a wool yarn I had in my stash. This yarn is DK (more
or less!). It is not Filz-it fine, but the yardage is very similar (50gr =100 meters).
This yarn felts but not as much as Filz-it (for example).

ABOUT GAUGE:
It is not important, as far as you are consistent with your tension.

ABOUT HOOK:
It depends on the yarn. Ive used a 4.5 mm hook. If you intend to felt the toy,
remember that the stitches shouldnt be tight. If you are not felting it, the hook should
be smaller.

YOU WILL NEED:
Yarn for the octopus.
Two black eyes.
Stuffing.
Tapestry needle.

ABOUT CROCHET TERMS:
Ive followed the US terminology.
Stitch: st
Chain: ch
Slip stitch: sl st
Single crochet: sc
FLO: Front Loop Only
BLO: Back Loop Only

All the pattern is worked in spirals, so do not join at the end/beginning of a

If you are not felting the toy, Pulpi is ready to play with!:

Ive slightly felted the toy in the washing machine, this is the result:
