Dear Prospective Team:

Welcome to the CIUS Second Annual Volleyball Tournament. We are very pleased to host this
event and raise money for the Coalition of Indian Undergraduate Students and our numerous
cultural events at Michigan State University.

The Coalition of Indian Undergraduate Students (CIUS) is a group of undergraduate students
studying at Michigan State University. CIUS is one of the most active organizations at MSU,
with hundreds of members interested in preserving and partaking in India's culture with both the
Indian and non-Indian students of MSU. Our organization seeks to educate our campus about the
Indian culture, as well as be a support group for students of Indian origin. In order to facilitate
our outreach to the community, we invite you to join in our endeavors, since achievement lies in
a strong tie between South Asian youth and other members of the community.

CIUS orchestrates annual events that are educational, cultural and service oriented; programs are
open to anyone who would like to participate. We have been involved in the Educational Lecture
Series (ELS), the National Gandhi Day of Community Service and have engaged audiences with
cultural events such as Garbhangra, Holi and the pinnacle of our efforts, Satrang; an annual
cultural gala exposing the public to Indian culture through a celebration of dance and music.

For over twenty years now, our organization has presented our culture through a show now
known as Satrang, which means "seven colors". Through dance and music, we display the unity
amongst Indians, and teach about the country's unique culture. Over the past five years, our show
has earned the title of the largest show on campus that is entirely student run.

Volleyball Team Rules and Regulations:

1) Each team must have 6 to 8 members.

2) There must be at least two girls playing in each team.

3) The cost of registration is $60 PER TEAM.

4) No individual can compete for more than one team during the tournament.

5) Final team rosters must be submitted electronically to BOTH Akshaya Raghu

6) Teams who submit their information and money before July 23
rd
will be discounted $10
and will only have to pay $50.

7) Payments will be submitted to CIUS online a link will be posted at a later date.

8) Failure to meet deadlines may result in an inability to participate in the tournament.

9) There will be a bracket system set in place reflecting the distribution of teams.

10) Teams will be required to stay at the location of the tournament (Founders Park) during
the time they are competing. Short breaks will be given throughout the tournament.

11) Teams and individuals will be liable for any damages incurred on the venue of Founders
Park on the day of the tournament

12) CIUS is not responsible for any bodily/personal injury or damage/loss to property
resulting from participation in the tournament.

13) Violation of any rules can lead to disqualification of team. These decisions are at the sole
discretion of CIUS e-board.
