Steele Land & Livestock Female Sale Catalog
Steele Land & Livestock Female Sale Catalog
Steele Land & Livestock Female Sale Catalog
It is a great privilege to welcome you to our second ever bred female and select show heifer sale. We again
are presenting some of the best Angus genetics we have ever offered. These females have been selected
over many generations for the economic traits that are important to the beef industry. They are sound,
functional females that have been expected to perform every year with out exception. They bring in a big
calf and are bred back to do it again year after year for generations. We have cows that have performed
this task for 17 years and their daughters and grand daughters exhibit those same characteristics.
In this offering, you will find a cross section of our herd, from open heifers to experienced donor females
that are the foundation of the herd today. The cow families represented are the most productive we have
found. We started this herd in 1991 with 13 cows from the Loren Squires dispersal and 3 cows from the
Hoover Angus program. Very few females have been added since those first cows. Those 16 cows are the
foundation in which we have built this herd. Through rigorous selection and some very good advice of
other Angus breeders, we have developed a cow herd that we are very pleased with. We are confident you
will be as well. The open heifers being offered, we believe, have not only a chance to be successful in the
show ring, but will be great assets to your future breeding program. The bred females have survived the
most stringent of selection criteria for generations. They not only survived but thrived in our program.
These Angus females we are offering are the back bone of the operation that has led to many successful production sales over the years. Our goal
has always been to raise top notch commercial bulls for clients all over the United States. These are the females that have helped us to achieve those
goals. Each year on the 4th Saturday of March, we are blessed to have commercial cattlemen and women from across the U.S. come and purchase
over 100 commercial bulls and over 30 Angus heifers for use in their breeding programs. The best part of that are the reports we get back of those
customers successes, from outstanding tops in the fall on new crop calves to record premiums on the grid after harvest. The cows in this offering
are the reason for that success.
We believe our herd sires that have influenced this offering have played a vital role to that success as well. OGL Cold War, TC Grid Topper, WAR
Cowboy Up, SLL Grindstone and RDDA Overload were the beginning of something very special. Their contributions and the females they are
leaving behind will be their legacy. WAR Draftsman, Plainview Lutton E102 (LUT), SLL Freedom P44, SLL Fast Track, SLL Overload T18, WAR
Power U107 and EXAR Titlist are destined to take our program and yours to new heights. We are confident they will lead the way to more profit-
ability in the beef business.
We are very blessed to have many families make up the Steele Land & Livestock family. They all pour their heart and soul into this operation every
day. They fight the mud, snow and cold so the new arrivals get to see the warm summer sun and the lush green grass of SW Iowa. A huge thank
you goes out to Mike Plagman, Alex Antisdel, Natalie Mc Cullough, Amanda Will and their families. The countless hours and the dedication are
very much appreciated. The other members of the family that are contributors to this sale as well as the spring sales include Jim and Rod Fastert,
Nathan and Bill Mass, and Alan and Josh Schuler. They are true friends and partners in our Angus endeavors and an important part of our lives. We
appreciate their contributions and the trust they have put in us. We are proud of this group of special people and could not accomplish our goals
without their support.
As always, these cattle are guaranteed 100%. If for any reason you are not satisfied, please contact us and we will make it right. They have been
subject to all the genetic and production testing possible. They will perform to your expectations. We are confident of that. These females will
contribute to your success.
Again, we would like to thank you for your interest in our program. If there is anything we can do to assist you in your selection, please feel free
to give us a call. We will tell you the truth on each and every animal in this offering. Our guarantee is second to none. We look forward to your
appraisal of our offering. As always there will be a fantastic lunch and great fellowship before the sale. Please join us on December 11th in Mas-
sena, IA.
