DMCC Policy Regarding Food & Beverage Operations

during Ramadan - 2014


Applicable to all Food and Beverage establishments within JLT
Please note that Food Preparation, Delivery and Cooking Services during the hours of fasting
are prohibited without a permit from DMCCA.
The permit will be granted subject to the following conditions:
POLICY
Ramadan Operations for Food and Beverage Establishments within Jumeirah Lakes Towers
are as follows:
Food and/or beverage services for dine-in operations during the daytime (for
consumption within the food establishment itself) are not allowed;
All food and beverage establishments within DMCC Free Zone may function normally
after Maghrib Athan (Azan) and their dine- in and outdoor dining areas may be
made ready and opened to the public 30 minutes prior to the time for Iftar.
Activities related to the preparation and cooking of food during the daytime, for
service after Maghrib Athan (Azan) is permitted;

PERMIT AND CHARGES
Take-Away, Delivery and Dine-In Permit (for all Food and Beverage Establishments)
Activities related to the preparation and cooking of food for take-away and/or
delivery are permitted during the day time.
This permit includes dine-in consumption of food and beverages during the hours of
fasting, provided the establishment ensures that consumption of food is completely
concealed from the public.
Supermarkets, hypermarkets and convenience stores are not permitted to allow
dine-in during fasting hours.
All food and beverage establishments co-located with a mosque are not permitted
to allow dine-in, during fasting hours.
No outdoor dining facilities are to serve food during fasting hours whatsoever.

HOW TO APPLY FOR A RAMADAN PERMIT
Please visit DMCC portal to apply for the appropriate permits (as detailed above) for
Ramadan Food and Beverage establishments.
Dmcc Portal- Create new service request- Ramadan policy.
The permit can be printed by the client directly.
DISPLAY OF PERMITS
DMCCA permits for Ramadan Food and Beverage Operations must be conspicuously
displayed outside and within the food and beverage establishments premises.
DEFAULTERS
Defaulters will initially be issued with a first and final written warning as a corrective
measure.
A penalty of AED 50,000/- will be charged to those establishments which are not
complying with the policy after receiving the written warning described above.
The License of the defaulting establishment will be terminated with immediate effect
after the first two stages described above.
The matter will be reported to Dubai Police.

ENFORCEMENT
Please note that DMCCAs Compliance Team will be conducting regular inspection to
ensure compliance with the Ramadan Policy and its implementation.
