Administrative Specialist

Hours Full Time (12 month on a continuing basis)


Description The U.S. Army Cadet Corps, Inc. is inviting applications for Ad
ministrative Specialist, starting June 2013. The Administrative Specialist is cr
ucial for planning and managing U.S. Army Cadet Corps and Forest Hill Military A
cademy operations. Administrative Specialist types military and nonmilitary corr
espondence in draft and final copy; Proofreads typed documents against source do
cuments; Assembles final product for review, authentication or other disposition
; Prepares registered or certified mail for dispatch; Opens, sorts, routes and d
elivers incoming correspondence and messages; Signs receipt for, and picks up re
gistered and certified mail; Dates and dispatches outgoing correspondence and me
ssages; Requisitions and stocks office supply; Answers inquiries from staff and
advises personnel on administrative and clerical matters; Greets and assists off
ice visitors and service personnel; Answers phones and provides general informat
ion; Sets-up and maintains logs, rosters, and status boards; Keeps calendar for
executive personnel; Determines requirements for office equipment, supplies and
space.
Minimum Requirements Successful applicants will have the following minimum qu
alifications and/or experience:
Ability to type at a minimum of 25 net words per minute
Proficiency with Quickbooks for nonprofits or similar accounting software
Military experience is required
Former military service as E-6 or above is preferred
Former military service as MOS 42L is preferred
Good English grammar, spelling and punctuation
Experience in setting up and maintaining filing and publication systems
Experience in preparing forms and correspondence in Army style is preferred
Interest in office work, keeping and organizing records, computers and other off
ice machines
Microsoft Office tools mastery is required
Familiarity with social media (e.g., Facebook, Blog, Flicker) is preferred
Bookkeeper experience is preferred
Strong communications skills
Ability to work independently and supervise junior staff
Experience working with youth 12-18 years-of-age is preferred

nce standards
