Our ef- forts to help protect our families now include the installation of sixty (60) new surveillance cameras to the Sen- ator Circle and Bayou Towers sites. The new equipment should allow for complete surveillance of both prop- erties. Recordings will be reviewed daily. Guests are welcomed at HTHA but remember, Tenants Head of House- holds are permitted only 14 overnight guest stays per year by persons not listed on the dwelling lease. Wayne Thibodeaux New Look, Same Commitment The Houma Terrebonne Housing Authority walked away with three awards at the 2014 Louisi- ana Housing Council Annual Awards Ceremony. The awards ceremony took place on Wednes- day May 15, 2014 at the Baton Rouge Hilton. The event is part of the LHC Annual Legislative Conference. HTHAwas honored by winning an award in the following three (3) categories: The Houma Terrebonne Housing Authoritys Board of Commissioners, at its regular meeting, held May 22, 2014 approved the following changes to its fat rent policy, effective November 1, 2014, in order to comply with this federal mandate. Unless Congress acts to change Public Law 113-76, Fiscal Year 2014 Appropriation Act, the following Flat Rent Rates will apply effective November 2014: Public-Law 113-76, 2014 Appropriations Act requires the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Devel- opment (HUD) to cause all Public Housing Authorities to set Flat Rent charges for each of its public hous- ing units at no less than 80% of the applicable Fair Market Rent (FMR). Volume 2014 Issue 4, JulyAugust Edition Flammable materials such as butane lighter fuid, char- coal lighter fuid, and paint thinner should be stored in a safe place and not near a heat source. Gasoline fueled equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, etc., must have gas or oil in the tank and should not be stored in your unit. Gasoline, propane, and kerosene cannot be stored inside or outside your unit, whether empty or full. Shower curtains must be clean and free of mold and mildew. Refrigerator must be clean on the exterior and interior (inside & out) Remember, to also keep the gaskets clean. Broken picture frames, vases, and mirrors should be discarded. If property of HTHA, please report it to Man- agement so it can be removed. All resident own electrical lamps must contain a light bulb. All dead roaches should be swept from your unit! If you have purchased a fre extinguisher, it should be reported to your Housing Manager and it must be prop- erly inspected. There should be no wires (extension cords, phone cords, etc.) running across the foor, creating tripping hazards. There should be no furniture blocking windows or doors. Keep yards, hallways, and common areas free of trash and debris. If in doubt, please refer to your Dwelling Lease. Your dwelling lease obligations require that you report any and all problems inside your unit to the Housing Authority/Work Order Clerk. Lets continue to do our part so that we can have a decent, safe, and sanitary place to live and work! It is very important that problems in your unit are reported to the work order clerk when discovered. HTHAs Admissions and Continued Occupancy Pol- icy require that you pay the amount of rent due to HTHA by the 5th business day of the month. Community service work re- quirement: 8 hours per month unless employed, elderly, dis- abled, participating in Eco- nomic Self-Suffciency program or enrolled in a qualifying state program. (PHA will monitor familys compliance annually and if the family fails to com- ply, the PHA will not renew the lease unless the family and the PHA enter into an agreement to bring the tenant current with owed hours).
