Instructional Plan

DURATION OF UNIT: 11 Weeks GROUP: 2 Alpha
AGE RANGE: 8 -13 years
THEME: These Fields Hills
RATIONALE: The purpose of this instructional plan, is to develop an awareness and appreciation in students for persons who have contributed and
continue to contribute to the country of Barbados. The theme, These Fields and Hills was chosen for the duration of this eleven week term. In the
delivery of this theme, the instruction given will seek to make students more aware of the importance agriculture play in our country, i.e. providing
jobs, ensuring that food is readily available.
COMMENTS: Class 2 Alpha consists of nine (9) students, two (2) girls and seven (7) boys. These students are faced with various challenges
which affect their learning abilities. In order to create a warm, friendly and productive classroom climate that facilitates learning, special efforts will
be made to cater lessons and activities in the teaching-learning experience to the needs of each student. Subject integration will be utilized in all
areas across the curriculum in order to assist in the solidification of the concepts taught, and the various skills and concepts will be constantly
reinforced to enhance retention. Additionally, most work will be done in small chunks to allow for shorter periods of focused attention and smooth
transitioning form one activity to the other. Hands-on and interactive activities will be incorporated in lessons in order to enhance learning in each
content area.
