DOUBLE VISION

Sri Aurobindo
(Sri robindo), (15 August 1872 5 December 1950), born Aurobindo Ghose, was an Indian nationalist,
philosopher, yogi, guru, and poet.
[2][3]
He joined the Indian movement for independence from British rule, for a while
became one of its influential leaders and then became a spiritual reformer, introducing his visions on human progress
and spiritual evolution.
Aurobindo studied for the Indian Civil Service at King's College, Cambridge, England. After returning to India he took
up various civil service works under the Maharaja of the princely state of Baroda and began to involve himself in politics.
He was imprisoned by the British for writing articles against British rule in India. He was released when no evidence was
provided. During his stay in the jail he had mystical and spiritual experiences, after which he moved to Pondicherry,
leaving politics for spiritual work.
During his stay in Pondicherry, Aurobindo developed a method of spiritual practice, which he called Integral Yoga. The
central theme of his vision was the evolution of human life into a life divine. He believed in a spiritual realisation that
not only liberated man but also transformed his nature, enabling a divine life on earth. In 1926, with the help of his
spiritual collaborator, Mirra Alfassa ("The Mother"), he founded the Sri Aurobindo Ashram. He died on 5 December 1950
in Pondicherry.

THE MOTHER
The Mother was born Mirra Alfassa in Paris on 21 February 1878. A pupil at the Academie Julian, she became an
accomplished artist, and also excelled as a pianist and writer. Interested in occultism, she visited Tlemcen, Algeria, in
1905 and l906 to study with the adept Max Theon and his wife. Her primary interest, however, was spiritual
development. In Paris she founded a group of spiritual seekers and gave talks to various groups.
In 1914 the Mother voyaged to Pondicherry to meet Sri Aurobindo, whom she at once recognised as the one who for many
years had inwardly guided her spiritual development. After a stay of eleven months she was obliged to return to France
due to the outbreak of the First World War. A year later she went to Japan for a period of four years.
In April 1920 the Mother rejoined Sri Aurobindo in Pondicherry. When the Sri Aurobindo Ashram was formed in
November 1926, Sri Aurobindo entrusted its full material and spiritual charge to the Mother. Under her guidance, which
continued for nearly fifty years, the Ashram grew into a large, many-faceted spiritual community. In 1952 she established
Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education, and in 1968 an international township, Auroville. The Mother left her
body on l7 November 1973.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Nepalese Parliament on Sunday, stressing
need for the strengthening of bilateral ties.
"Nepal is a truly sovereign nation. It is not our job to interfere in Nepal's internal
affairs," Modi said, speaking in Hindi.
Earlier in the day, Modi and his Nepalese counterpart, Sushil Koirala, met for one-on-
one discussions which a cabinet source said covered a range of issues including bilateral
and regional matters. After their 30-minute meet, delegation level talks between the two
countries began.
The visit sees resumption of political dialogue at the highest level between the two
neighbours and is expected to bridge the trust deficit that stemmed in the past 10 years
due to so-called neglect of Nepal by the two UPA regimes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday announced NRs 10,000 crore as concessional line of credit to Nepal
and proposed a HIT formula for the development of the land-locked country endowed with rich hydropower
potential.
Modi, while addressing Nepal Constituent Assembly, said for Nepal, India has decided to provide Nepal with
NRs 10,000 crore (USD 1 billion) as concessional line of credit for various development purposes.
This amount is separate from the previous assistance that India has already provided to Nepal, Modi, the
first Indian Prime Minister to visit the country in 17 years, said. Earlier, India had provided USD 250 million
line of credit to Nepal through the Exim Bank of India.
The new grant will be utilised for infrastructure development and energy projects as per Nepals
priority, according to the Nepalese Foreign Ministry.
Proposing a model development formula for Nepal, Modi said, I want to HIT Nepal, drawing wide applause
from the lawmakers.
Elaborating his strategy, Modi said HIT in his lexicon implies Highways, I:I-ways and T:Transways. He said
these three combined together would pave the way for rapid development of the country and India wants to
give this gift at the earliest.

Evacuation of people is on along the eastern Kosi embankments right from Birpur, with thousands of people
crowding the Kosi Maha Setu, that links Darbhanga and Madhubani districts. Several others have taken refuge
on taller embankments.
While the principal secretary for disaster management, Vyasji said that it was not known, whether Nepalese
officials had carried out the controlled explosions to allow the pent up waters to seep through, Kosi officials at
Birpur said, that therehad been a slight increase in the water levels in the river, which at the moment was 'not
threatening'.However, Vyasji said, the administration was keeping its fingers crossed and praying
that there is no precipitation in the Kosi catchement areas in Nepal, which, if happens, could cause
further build up of water and could break the dammed up area leading to disastrous consequences
for Bihar.

GLASGOW: COMMONEALTH GAMES
Gold medallists at 2010 games Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa failed to recreate the same magic as their title defence lay
in tatters after a 17-21 21-23 defeat against World No. 18 Malaysian combo of Vivian Kah Mun Hoo and Khe Wei Woon in
the 41-minute summit clash at the Emirates Arena.
Nonetheless, the silver medal is yet another feather in the caps of Jwala and Ashwini who had clinched the 2011 World
Championship bronze and also bagged the bronze at the Asian Badminton Championship in April this year.
It turned out to be a red letter day for World No. 22 Kashyap who bagged the biggest title of his career. He had reached the
quarterfinals of the London Olympics and won the Syed Modi Grand Prix Gold in 2012.
Up against a tricky player, Wong, who was immaculate with his court coverage and wrist play, Kashyap was rewarded for his
relentless never give up attitude.
In the first game, Kashyap was leading 14-8 before Wong came back with the help of some precise smashes to gather four
straight points. But the Indian soon turned the tables.
Kashyap put pressure on his opponent and gathered few points at the net to reach 18-12. 12. Soon he garnered seven game
points after Wong's return got buried into the nets.
An inaccurate down-the-line smash from Kashyap helped Wong save one game point but the Indian soon wrapped it up with
another jump smash to earn the bragging rights.
