The Club takes part in vaulting demonstrations along with a busy competition schedule throughout the year. EQUINE ACROBATICS Kennedy Blake is a singer, songwriter and musician performing at noon and 2 pm on the T-Mobile operated by Wireless Vision Gazebo Stage. She usually performs contemporary pop and country tunes. Originally from Columbus, she is chasing her dream in Nashville and has often been compared to Taylor Swift for her ability to write about the teenage experience. Kennedy, however, has her own distinct sound. Try to catch her performances this afternoon! KENNEDY BLAKE Backyard Conservation and Gardening presentations will be held today, presented by Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District in ShowPlace Pavilion. (614) 644-FAIR The Fair Daily Maintained by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the Natural Resources Park, open 9 am to 7:30 pm, is a must-see at the Ohio State Fair! With so many different outdoor activities and shows, there is plenty of entertainment to last almost an entire day! A 14.5-foot Smokey Bear greets visitors by name as they walk into the park. Smokey Bear stands beside an educational Pavilion flled with informative exhibits on a variety of natural resources and recreation topics, such as geology, forestry, wildlife, coastal management, mining, conservation, tourism and more. In honor of Smokey Bears 70th birthday this year, the All- Ohio State Fair Youth Choir will honor the famous mascot daily by singing Happy Birthday before their concert in the park. There are many things to observe such as Ohio wildlife, an 1800s themed log cabin and a tall grass prairie. Learn about the geological history of Ohio by taking a stroll on the Geological Walkway installed in 2012. In the heart of the 8-acre park is the kayaking pond, where people can be introduced to paddle sports, but not until they are ftted for a lifejacket and given instructions on how to behave in and around water. Other activities include an aviary, walk-through butterfy garden, Ohio wildlife exhibit, a nature preserve and a youth fshing pond. Anyone under the age of 14 can fsh at the youth fshing pond at the Natural Resources Park. The pond is stocked with thousands of bluegill and catfsh. Ohio wildlife offcers are on hand to assist with instruction, baiting hooks and taking fsh off the hooks. Catch a fsh and take it home for supper! Animals are constantly visiting the park for special appearances. Today, amphibians and reptiles from Shawnee State Park will be shown at 11:30 am and 4 pm. On the weekends at 11 am, fairgoers have a chance to see Columbus Zoo animals up close! There are also many shows and performances throughout the day. The famed Great Lakes Timber Show with everyones favorite lumberjacks takes the stage every day at noon, 2 pm and 6 pm. Catch these enthusiastic men in action as they chop, roll and chainsaw their way through this entertaining show. Natural Resources Park is a perfect oasis from the summer sun, and with so many fun activities, its no wonder it is a Fair favorite! NATURAL RESOURCES PARK: PERKS AND PETS, TOO! With 18 Grammys, Aretha Franklin is one of the best-selling female artists of all time and was the frst woman to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. She was also inducted into the GMA Gospel Music Hall of Fame, is a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Honor and has her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Jonathan Slocum, a comedian, will open for Aretha starting at 7 pm in the WCOL Celeste Center. Tickets are still available for $35.
