DESIGN OF CONCRETE

MIXTURES WITH
RECYCLED CONCRETE
AGGREGATES

INTRODUCTION

The seminar focuses on the use of recycled concrete aggregate RCA
as replacement for coarse natural aggregate eg :gravel , crushed stone etc
in normal strength structural concrete application

Increasing cost of landfill, anxiety of decreasing in natural resources and
increasing
In aggregate requirement for the construction work has attract the recycled
aggregate
application

It may be possible to reduce the demand for new aggregate
Keeping the concrete debris out of landfill save the landfill space
Keep the construction cost down
To avoid the exploitation of natural aggregate

The concrete aggregate collected from demolition sites is put through a crushing
machine .crushing facilities accepts only uncontaminated concrete which must be
free of trash ,wood, paper and other such materials. After crushing has taken
places, other
Particulates are filtered out through a variety of methods including handpicking
and Water flotation

RCA is useful for new concrete for pavement, sidewalks, gutters, median barriers,
Road construction ,embankments etc
