The paper contributions, workshop/tutorial proposals, and video tutorial proposals
are expected to comprise, but are not limited to, the following topics:

Embodiment: materials, actuators, sensors and energy systems
Wearable, prostheses, rehabilitation and assistive devices
Software and hardware architectures
Stability and balance control
Locomotion and whole body motion planning and control
High level cognitive planning and control
Human-Humanoid interaction
Learning and imitation strategies for humanoids
Neuro-robotics and brain-humanoid interfaces
Human body and behaviors modeling
Humanoid grasping and manipulation
Perception and sensing for humanoids
Humanoids as companions
Humanoids for physical and cognitive rehabilitation
Industrial applications of humanoids
Humanoids in hazardous environments
Humanoids grand challenges
Benchmarking and experimental methodology in humanoids
Ethical and social issues in human-humanoid coexistence
Accepted papers will be presented either at a single track oral session or at interactive
sessions. All papers will appear in the proceedings of the conference without
distinction and on IEEE Xplore. Videos of 1-3 minutes duration illustrating new and
exciting results will be also selected and included in the conference proceedings.
Proposal for half-day or full-day workshops and tutorials will be opened and will be
reviewed accordingly to conference web site. An exhibition site will be featured at
the venue. Information for prospective exhibitors will be available on the web site.
This year the new humanoids robot competition will be launched under rules
published in the web site.

Call for Papers
IEEE-RAS Humanoids 2014 conference will be held in Madrid, Spain, during November
18-20th, 2014. It will follow the previous ones in Atlanta, USA (2013) and Osaka, Japan
(2012). The conference theme Humans and Robots Face-to-Face confrms the
growing interest in the feld of human-humanoid interaction and cooperation,
especially during daily life activities in real environments. The conferences new scopes
will help focus on the next generation of humanoids. While Madrid, founded in the 9th
century, possesses a modern infrastructure, it has preserved the look and feel of its
historic neighbourhoods and streets. Madrids museum triangle makes it unique for
world cultural heritage. It is the 10th most livable city in the world according to the
2010 Monocle index. The venue will be the Hotel Melia located in the city center with
