Goodwood Revival to honour Maserati
SEPTEMBER will see the
organisers of the popular
Goodwood Revival mark 60
years of one of Formula 1s
most iconic machines, the
Maserati 250F.
One of the highlights of the
historic race meeting will be
one of the largest ever on-
track collections of the car at
the September 12-14 event.
As many as 16 examples of
the 250F are expected to take
part in the Richmond Trophy,
which this year will feature
2.5-litre, front-engined grand
prix cars of a kind that raced
from 1954 to 1960. Among
them is one of only two of
the V12-engined versions of
the machine ever built.
The 250F took victory on
its debut at the 1954 Argen-
tinian Grand Prix in the
hands of five-time Formula
1 world champion Juan Ma-
nuel Fangio and was raced
in period by Sir Stirling
Moss, Tony Brooks, Roy Sal-
vadori, Mike Hawthorn and
Jean Behra.
All 250Fs will be housed in
Goodwoods main paddock,
which will be constructed
to resemble the adrenaline-
fuelled Monza pit lane of
1954. Organisers are expect-
ing this feature to be a high-
ly-popular attraction for
visitors to the Revival.

Homeowners check others prices
LATEST research from Legal &
General Mortgage Club reveals
that 17% of homeowners in the
North West admit to using sites
such as Rightmove and Zoopla to
check on the value of homes be-
longing to their their friends and
neighbours.
A further 20% of property own-
ers use the same sites to keep up
to date with the value of their own
houses at least once a year, accord-
ing to the research.
The research was carried out as
part of Legal & Generals quarter-
ly Mortgage Mood survey.
This survey looks at the attitude
of homeowners across the UK on
a range of mortgage related is-
sues.
The findings also revealed that
across the UK, women are more
nosey than men, with 21% claim-
ing to use property sites to snoop
on friends and neighbours, com-
pared to just 15% of men.
People in the North West were
less likely to check on the value of
others properties than the aver-
age Brit (18%).
Of the homeowners who use
property sites to check the value
of friends and neighbours prop-
erties only 13% do so more than
once a year.
Jeremy Duncombe, director at
Legal & General Mortgage Club,
said: Whilst the current housing
market rebound makes it is easy
for homeowners to become overly
concerned with the value of their
home, it is important that as a na-
tion we dont become too caught
up with the short term.
Consistent, inflation-linked
rises are what we need to see to
ensure a stable and sustainable
housing market in the long term,
he said.
Mr Duncombe added: With in-
terest rate rises just around the
corner, it may well be prudent for
homeowners to assess their over-
all finances, and not just their
property value and ensure they
have the best mortgage deal avail-
able to them before rates rise con-
siderably.
