1. What is an environment?
Environment is the biotic and abiotic surrounding of an organism or population, and
includes particularly the factors that have an influence in their survival, development and
evolution. It literally means surrounding and everything that affect an organism during its
lifetime is collectively known as its environment. It includes all the physical and biological
surrounding and their interactions.
It can be also defined as the sum total of all surroundings of a living organism, including
natural forces and other living things, which provide conditions for development and growth as
well as of danger and damage.
2. What is the probable cause of a super typhoon?

We all know that a tropical cyclone or typhoon is a typical natural phenomenon wherein a
system of thunderstorms produces a cyclonic rotation with a low-pressure center or eye. This
phenomenon produces heavy rains. But what is the main origin of this natural event? Are we
responsible to the cause of a super typhoon? Is climate change affects this phenomenon?

Super typhoon is a typhoon with sustained winds greater than 67 meters per second (0.067
km) or 150 miles per hour (240 km/h). It means that it can destroy thousands of houses in a
single run. This kind of natural phenomenon proves that our world changes its climate. It is a
part of a sobering reality Global warming. Climate change affects our weather. This super
typhoon that we experienced recently was a symbol of climate change. The warming of air and
sea temperatures gives more power to the tropical cyclones because warmer air can hold more
water vapor. Due to the greenhouse gases that our technology produces, the climate suddenly
changes. Thats why we are now experiencing stronger typhoons which destroy our homes.

3. Is there any remedy to prevent such catastrophe?

There is no way on how to prevent natural calamities. However, impact of natural
disasters can be mitigated. For instance, early warning mechanisms may be employed to warn
the public. Preparing the public through information dissemination also helps. In order to
prevent such catastrophe from the natural calamities that we encounter, we must take action
beforehand. We should always be prepared on every situation that we encounter. We should
prepare such things like clothes, food, water, first aid kit, or the things that we need when a
natural phenomenon like typhoon happens. The community must also know where the safest
place or evacuation zone is located. But the most important way of avoid such natural disaster
is reducing the effect of it. For example, you can reduce, or prevent to some extent the disasters
like flood, landslide and soil erosion simply by planting trees in the barren lands, roadsides, hills,
and river bank. For earthquakes, you can reduce its impact by building houses which are capable
to withstand earthquake that is, building earthquake safe homes. Also the people can be given
training about how to save oneself as well as the life of others during the earthquake.
Furthermore, the people can be trained to act responsibly in coping with the aftermath of the
earthquake, by helping out the victims, giving the first-aid to the wounded people, and calling
the hospital if possible, and so on.

To sum up, good orientation, good governmental planning and legal provision,
afforestation, proper shelter preparations are some of the keys to prevent huge destruction
from the natural disasters. Cleaning the environment is very helpful. It is a basic way of
preventing such catastrophes. Taking care of our nature will able to help us to withstand the
natural disasters that we encounter.
