Creating Your Personal Herb Journal
Posted by bridget orman

Your herb journal will become one of your most prized reference books, provided
you record accurate and detailed information in it.

Use a note book or hard covered journal for your herb work. Make it yours.
Personalize it in any manner you choose. Take a moment, use your psyche and
enhance it in a way that enhances its value to you. Decorate it, glue or decoupage
pictures and images to it, flower petals, leaves, crushed herbs or any other thing that
makes the book more special for your use.

Divide your book into sections including herbs, fruits, trees, spices, etc. Whatever
divisions work for you. Alphabetical listings are a good idea if you intend to go
further and study many herbs. All herbs have planetary astrological associations, a
base elemental (earth, air, fire, water) and a gender. These should be recorded in
your journal along with all other information on the herbs that you gather and find
useful.

Whenever you do any type of herb work or magic, record what you did, how it made
you feel, the intent and your thoughts on it. Always leave space to later record an
outcome to your work. Most important in any journal work is to ensure that your
book is comforting and reflects you. Your interaction with your journal will grow
stronger.

basic candle magick
Posted by Kelly*

Your Altar:

You may use anything that has a flat top.. I
use an old coffee table with a piece of
material or on a fireproof plate on it. Be
creative.. As for a cover I use white /black
because of its kind of a multipurpose
color. Although some magic specifies a
color then what ever color is specified
should be used. Again, be creative...

Keep in mind that candle magic is usually
done in condensed areas so keep things as
simplistic as you can, especially your
candlesticks and censors.
no draping garments or lots of drapng
materiels

Incense:

There are some who believe that incense
is unimportant in candle magic. I cannot
imagine performing candle magick
without the incense. The type that you use
may be specified in a specific spell, if that
is the case by all means use that.
Generally, I use sandlewood incense as
well as vervain. Vervain gives the spell
working a little extra charge dragons
blood as well But then again nothing is set
in stone.. go by what feels right to you

Incense symbolizes Air... as the smoke
rises our thoughts are carried up into the
universe.

Preparing of the Practitioner:
Prior to your spell working prepare
yourself a nice relaxing bath. Add a hand
full of sea salt to get your charges set
where they need to be. Light a few
candles, turn off the light and relax. Clear
your mind of the junk you have picked
up through out the day. Visualize the
water washing all the negativity away
from you. It is very important that your
mind be at ease and clear prior to any
spell working. as you let water out
visualze all daily works and issues go
down the drain as you let it go down the
drain.

Types of candles:
Any type of candle can be used for candle
magic as long as it has been cleansed and
consecrated prior to use. Although
beeswax candles are higher in price than
store bought candles, they are more
powerful because they are produced from
nature. As with any other tool, the candle
made by the practitioner for a specific
purpose captures the energy of the
practitioner. Many experienced Witches
will use only candles they have crafted
themselves because of this.

Cleansing & Consecrating:
This is a very important step and should
not be skipped. Cleansing removes all the
negative energies that the candle has
picked up along the way. As with all
supplies you want your candles to to be
as free of psychic debris as possible. cover
the candle in sea salt and the ask The
Lord and lady to bless it. I could give you
the phrasing but I think it is better when
it comes from your own heart.

Dressing Candles:
Dressing the candle with oil is as
important as any other step. Use
whatever oil you prefer or what a specific
spell asks you to use. Personally, I use
sandlewood regularly but again that is
my preference. what is important is the
direction you dress the candle. To bring
something to you, rub oil on the candle
in a downward motion from the top to
the middle and then from the bottom to
the middle.

To send something away from you...you
rub the oil from the middle of the candle
out to the ends. Never make a back and
forth motion as this defeats the purpose.
Dab the remaining oil from your fingers
onto your third eye and on your breast
bone. Then say the following:

I cleanse and consecrate this candle in
the name of the Lord and the Lady. May
it burn with strength in the service of the
light and divinity Then state your intent
or the purpose of the candle.

Inscribing:
If you inscribe a candle you should use
your Athame/crystal tip The same
principle as dressing the candle is used...

To draw something to you, write from
the top to the middle, and then from the
bottom to the middle. To repel things,
write from the middle to the ends.

Dragons
Posted by Skye

Dragons are creatures of diversity. There are those who have chosen the right
handed path of purity and goodness and those who have chosen to walk a
darker path.

They have always been a very coveted species and especially so in the last
century. Much to the dismay of the metaphysical society, many of the old
school Dragon collectors are now referred to as Dragon Hoarders. As some of
the Dragon Breeds have dwindled during the last several hundred years,
Dragon collectors have been brought into the limelight in order to supply the
high demand for these entities.

Dragons are held in high regard for their many wonderful characteristics.
Their magical aptitude, ability to generate wealth, phenomenal psychic
abilities, wisdom, and devotion to the human race can be compared to none.

Working in the Draconic Traditions is not a path for those who are frivolous.
Dragons expect devotion, respect, and a permanent place within your heart.

Dragons, with such a vast array of abilities, can pretty much manifest in any
way they choose. The most common manifestations are shadows within
shadows, changes in air temperature (sometimes to an extreme), shards and
streaks of light, blurs or shimmers in the air. Their most common form of
communication is via telepathy but they will adapt to the ways in which their
human companion is skilled. So the next time you see a shimmer of light it
could be a dragon!

Extending The Hand Of Friendship
Worldwide

Each and everyone of us has something
to offer in friendship. Getting to know
others from countries all around the world
not only improves international
relations, but strengthens them too. Get to
know your fellow man, take an interest in
their cultures,their world,and above all
embrace that person as a special member of
the human race. There is so much sorrow in
the world,so many wars,stranger fighting
stranger, not stopping to think about them
and their families. My ultimate wish is an
end to all these wars, for people to take a
stand and say no more, its now time to make
friends and live in peace. Always remember
that the good people of this earth outweigh
the bad ones,. Now is the time to reach out
and show those who ruin things for
others,that there's a decent fulfilling life to
be had,without drugs,without violence and
without animosity. God comes under many
guises, depending on our religion, but at the
end of the day, he made us all to live in
harmony together.to help people in great
need,to love thy fellow man. Love, light and

May the stream of your life flow unimpeded!

Deep peace of the flowing air to you,

The air which you breathe deeply, rhythmically,
Which imparts to you energy, consciousness, life.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you!

Deep peace of the quiet earth to you,

9 Ways to Turn a Bad Day Around
Posted by Rev. Carol A. Ingle (Raven)

A few days ago, I was extremely upset. Its too complicated to explain the whole
situation, but an encounter left me feeling anxious, agitated, under attack, and sad. I
did what I could to resolve the situation, but I still felt terrible.

When I have a day like this, I try to make it a Good Bad Day. I take the steps that
tend to make me feel better or, if they dont make me feel better, at least give me the
kind of day on which I can look back with satisfaction.

To have a Good Bad Day, I make sure to:

1. Exercise.

For me, exercise is a key element to managing my moods. It calms me and energizes
me at the same time. Its rituals are comforting. Its productive, but not intellectually
or socially demanding. Also, exercise is so obviously a key to good health that if I
manage to exercise, I feel like Im doing something worthwhile in my day, no matter
what else happens.

2. Do something nice for someone else.

The first part of the Second Splendid Truth is One of the best ways to make
yourself happy is to make other people happy (also known as the Do good, feel
good provision). I sent out some emails that I knew would be useful for other
people. It doesnt sound like much, but it took a lot out of me.

3. Stop ruminating.

My inclination was to go over and over the details of the upsetting episode and to
conduct imaginary arguments. Instead, I tried to keep my resolution to find an area
of refuge. Studies show that dwelling on negative thoughts amplifies their power in
your mind. In fact, some researchers suggest that the reason more women suffer
depression than men is that women are more likely to over think, while men are
better at distracting themselves from negative thoughts.

4. Connect with someone important to me.

I called my friends.

5. Tackle a nagging task.

Crossing things off a to-do list is energizing and cheering. I took the time to clear my
desknot just physically removing piles of papers, but also doing the tasks that the
papers represented. Copying research notes from various sources, making a dentists
appointment, and making progress on my blog redesign gave me a feeling of control
and accomplishment.

6. Do something silly and lighthearted with my children.

I videotaped my four-year-old granddaughter as she danced and sang in her
mermaid costume with her new mermaid doll, and we had a family bubble-blowing
extravaganza. And throughout all these steps, I tried to

7. Act the way I want to feel.

Research shows that although we think that we act because of the way we feel, in
fact, we often feel because of the way we act. I get worked up very easily, but I tried
to act cheerful instead of allowing myself to get agitated, wring my hands, etc. My
mother often reminds me, Stay calm, and I need that advice frequently.

8. Ask for help.

I said to my man, I really need to talk to you. Im really upset, I want to tell you
what happened today and talk to you about it, okay? Being a sympathetic listener
isnt my husbands strongest point, and truth be told, he wasnt very comforting, but
I think that by explaining that I needed him to try to do his best to help, I did help
him do the best he could.

But nothing really worked. I still felt lousy. So I made sure to

9. Go to sleep early.

Its true, everything does look better in the morning. Also, the longer I work on my
happiness project, the more importance I give to sleep. Getting enough sleep just
makes a tremendous difference to happiness.

When I woke up the next morning, I felt better. The situation still upsets me, but not
as much as it did. When I have a bad day, it helps to have a good bad day.

unconditional love

What is Real Love?
Real Love: The Love Weve All Been Looking For
Unconditional Love
We've heard songs about it, seen it in the movies,
heard it talked about on Oprah by relationship
experts, and read about it in thousands of self help
books. But, what is unconditional love? We all want
to feel loved. We think about it, hope for it,
fantasize about it, go to great lengths to achieve it,
and feel that our lives are incomplete without it.
The lack of unconditional love is the cause of most
of our anger and confusion. It is no exaggeration to
say that our emotional need for unconditional love
is just as great as our physical need for air and food.

It is especially unfortunate, then, that most of us
have no idea what unconditional love really is, and
we prove our ignorance with our horrifying divorce
rate, the incidence of alcohol and drug addiction in
our country, the violence in our schools, and our
overflowing jails.

Our misconceptions of unconditional love began in
early childhood, where we saw that when we did all
the right thingswhen we were clean, quiet,
obedient and otherwise goodpeople loved us.
They smiled at us and spoke in gentle tones. But we
also saw that when we were bad, all those signs
of love instantly vanished. In short, we were
taught by consistent experience that love was
conditional, that we had to buy love from the
people around us with our words and behavior.

So whats wrong with conditional love? We see it
everywhere we look, so what could be wrong with
it?

Imagine that every time you pay me fifty dollars, I
tell you I love you. We could do that all day, but at
the end of the day would you feel loved? No,
because youd know that I loved you only
because you paid me. We simply cant feel fulfilled
by love we pay for. We can feel loved only when it
is freely, unconditionally given to us. The instant
we do anything at all to win the approval or respect
of other peoplewith what we say, what we do,
how we lookwe are paying for the attention and
affection we receive, and we cant feel genuinely
loved.

A New Definition of Love: Real Love

Theres only one kind of love that can fill us up,
make us whole, and give us the happiness we all
want: unconditional love or true love. It is
unconditional love that we all seek, and somehow
we intuitively realize that anything other than that
kind of love isnt really love at allits an imitation
of the real thing.

Unconditional lovetrue loveis so different from
the kind of love most of us have known all our lives
that it deserves both a nameReal Loveand
definition of its own: Real Love is caring about the
happiness of another person without any thought
for what we might get for ourselves. Its also Real
Love when other people care about our happiness
unconditionally. It is not Real Love when other
people like us for doing what they want. Under
those conditions were just paying for love again.
We can be certain that were receiving Real Love
only when we make foolish mistakes, when we fail
to do what other people want, and even when we
get in their way, but they dont feel disappointed or
irritated at us. That is Real Love (true unconditional
love), and that love alone has the power to heal all
wounds, bind people together, and create
relationships quite beyond our present capacity to
imagine.

What we Do Without Real Love: Imitation Love

If we dont have enough Real Love in our lives, the
resulting emptiness is unbearable. We then
compulsively try to fill our emptiness with
whatever feels good in the momentmoney, anger,
sex, alcohol, drugs, violence, power, and the
conditional approval of others. Anything we use as
a substitute for Real Love becomes a form of
Imitation Love, and although Imitation Love feels
good for a moment, it never lasts and never gives
us the feeling of genuine happiness that Real Love
provides.

Most people spend their entire lives trying to fill
their emptiness with Imitation Love, but all they
achieve is an ever-deepening frustration,
punctuated by brief moments of superficial
satisfaction. All the unhappiness in our lives is due
to that lack of Real Love and to the frustration we
experience as we desperately and hopelessly try to
create happiness from a flawed foundation of
Imitation Love. The beauty of Real Love is that it
ALWAYS will eliminate our anger, confusion, and
pain. So how do we find this universal cure?
Finding Real Love

As people learn the principles of Real Love, they
almost uniformly ask how they can find and feel
the real thing. They want to feel the actual power
of Real Love.

Fortunately, there are so many course of actions we
can take to find Real Love and experience its
healing power.

Meditate for Answers
Posted by Rev. Carol A. Ingle (Raven)

One way to find an answer is to relax into a deep meditation. As we sit still the body
calms and settles. Then by concentrating on breathing and saying a mantra we free
space in the depths below the rambling mind to pull out the answer to a problem.

Meditation

Begin by gathering together a journal and pen to record insights from the
meditation. Choose a place where you will have quiet and privacy. Light your
meditation candle and burn incense if you wish. I like to fill the air with the scent of
sandalwood because it is clearing to me.

Sit on a cushion on the floor with your legs bent in, or sit on a chair with the soles of
your feet firmly planted on the floor for balance. Keep your back straight but not
rigid. Fold your hands in your lap or place them face up or face down on your
thighs.

Close your eyes and begin even and regular breathing, which means like your
everyday breathing. For example, breathe in one count, breathe out one count,
breathe in one count and continue this rhythmic pattern throughout your
meditation.

Do not hold your breath at any time in your practice. If your thoughts stray during
meditation gently return to following the course of your breaths in and out, in and
out.

The photo illustrates the use of mala beads when you use a mantra. Move one bead
forward with each mantra repetition. Coordinate saying the syllables of your
mantra to fit with the even breathing. If your mantra has 2 syllables breathe in on
the first and out on the second syllable. If there are more syllables figure out how
to divide them to keep the even breathing pattern.

All of this figuring out will keep your mind busy in a repetitive way to allow the
deeper question the space to work itself out and bring the answer you are needing
to the forefront in your consciousness.

When the mind is calm and one-pointed, answers have room to swim to the surface
of mind without hitting and being delayed by extraneous thoughts.

After watching your breathing for a few minutes and saying your mantra if desired
ask the question you wish answered.

Say a few prayers or affirmations of appreciation for new insights that arise to the
surface.

Finish your meditation session with a long breath in and a matching exhalation.
Open your eyes, stretch out, record your insights in your meditation journal now,
while fresh in your mind.

4 TECHNIQUES TO PROTECT YOUR ENERGY
Posted by Charlene 'White Deer' Heathwood

from Dr. Judith Orloff

Emotional freedom means learning how to stay centered in a stressful, highly
emotionally charged world. Since emotions such as fear, anger, and frustration are
energies, you can potentially catch them from people without realizing it. If you tend
to be an emotional sponge, its vital to know how to avoid taking on an individuals
negative emotions or the free-floating kind in crowds. Another twist is that chronic
anxiety, depression, or stress can turn you into an emotional sponge by wearing down
your defenses. Suddenly, you become hyper-attuned to others, especially those with
similar pain. Thats how empathy works; we zero in on hot-button issues that are
unresolved in ourselves. From an energetic standpoint, negative emotions can originate
from several sources. What youre feeling may be your own; it may be someone elses;
or it may be a combination. Ill explain how to tell the difference and strategically
bolster positive emotions so you dont shoulder negativity that doesnt belong to you.

This wasnt something I always knew how to do. Growing up, my girlfriends couldn't
wait to hit the shopping malls and go to parties, the bigger the better--but I didn't share
their excitement. I always felt overwhelmed, exhausted around large groups of people,
though I was clueless why. "What's the matter with you?" friends would say, shooting
me the weirdest looks. All I knew was that crowded places and I just didn't mix. I'd go
there feeling just fine but leave nervous, depressed, or with some horrible new ache or
pain.

Unsuspectingly, I was a gigantic sponge, absorbing the emotions of people around me.

With my patients, Ive also seen how absorbing other peoples emotions can trigger
panic attacks, depression, food, sex and drug binges, and a plethora of physical
symptoms that defy traditional medical diagnosis. The Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention report that more than two million Americans suffer from chronic fatigue.
Its likely that many of them are emotional sponges.

Here are some strategies from Emotional Freedom to practice. They will help you to
stop absorbing other peoples emotions. Emotional Action Step: How To Stay Centered
In A Stressful World
To detach from other peoples negative emotions:

First, ask yourself: Is the feeling mine or someone elses? It could be both. If the emotion such as fear
or anger is yours, gently confront whats causing it on your own or with professional help. If not, try
to pinpoint the obvious generator. For instance, if youve just watched a comedy, yet you came home
from the movie theater feeling blue, you may have incorporated the depression of the people sitting
beside you; in close proximity, energy fields overlap. The same is true with going to a mall or packed
concert.
When possible, distance yourself from the suspected source. Move at least twenty feet away; see if
you feel relief. Dont err on the side of not wanting to offend strangers. In a public place, dont
hesitate to change seats if you feel a sense of depression imposing on you.

For a few minutes, center yourself by concentrating on your breath: This connects you to your
essence. Keep exhaling negativity, inhaling calm. This helps to ground yourself and purify fear or
other difficult emotions Visualize negativity as gray fog lifting from your body, and hope as golden
light entering. This can yield quick results.

Negative emotions such as fear frequently lodge in your emotional center at the solar plexus. Place
your palm there as you keep sending loving-kindness to that area to flush stress out. For
longstanding depression or anxiety, use this method daily to strengthen this center. Its comforting
and builds a sense of safety and optimism.

Shield yourself. A handy form of protection many people use, including healers with trying patients,
involves visualizing an envelope of white light (or any color you feel imparts power) around your
entire body. Think of it as a shield that blocks out negativity or physical discomfort but allows what's
positive to filter in.

Look for positive people and situations. Call a friend who sees the good in others. Spend time with a
colleague who affirms the bright side of things. Listen to hopeful people. Hear the faith they have in
themselves and others. Also relish hopeful words, songs, and art forms. Hope is contagious and it
will lift your mood. Keep practicing these strategies. You dont have to reinvent the wheel each time
youre on emotional overload. With strategies to cope, you can have quicker retorts to stressful
situations, feel safer, and your sensitivities can blossom.

Take me to the only one

Whos breath touches

The silken threads of my soul.

Fly High, Dive low

Feel how our energy flows.

A single word, a touch

Make a heart beat whole.
Reach for me, search for me..

Touch me, till my soul finds peace.

Seek me in the wind Im there

Ill wait
Search up high or down low

Feel how the energy flows

Sense the quiver of each breath

And know that Ill wait
