HOLLIS SOCIAL LIBRARY 2011-Present
Library Director, Hollis, NH

Working with Board of Trustees create the annual budget; participate in presentations to town selectmen
Prepare monthly financial reports for Board of Trustees insuring appropriate use of library's annual budget
Prepare biweekly payroll, working with Town Finance Manager
Upgraded bookkeeping tool to current QuickBooks product, created better reporting and tracking methods
Manage all library staff comprised of 11 employees. Create job descriptions, define priorities and evaluate
performance of all staff members.
Updated staffing structure to include new position, Circulation Assistant that covers circulation desk and provides
readers advisory for patrons; eliminating the need for a "bell" on the circulation desk for patrons to ring for service.
Created Circulation and Adult Services Librarian a full time position to manage circulation staff, circulation
policies, Readers Advisory and Adult programming.
Coordinate all hiring of personnel for the library, including advertising, interviewing and extending positions.
Develop and uphold library policies; re-wrote all the job descriptions for library and created several new policies
Coordinated major renovation projects; re-carpeting the whole library, interior painting of walls and ceiling

Developed and manage the annual Patron Appreciation Day. Coordinate and "man" the Wadleigh Library booth at
the Souhegan Valley Chamber Expo held annually at Hampshire Hills.
Marketing responsibilities included creating program signage, press release content, presentations for local cable
stations, facebook, blog, and new email newsletter designed and created using Constant Contact.
Enlist local town officials and library trustees as issues and programs warrant it.
Member of GMILCS consortium, attend Reference committee meetings with 12 other library representatives,
currently chairperson of the committee, coordinating agenda's and programs.
Collect & tabulate monthly & annual statistics for the Director, including circulation & database statistics.
In the Director's absence, provide staff direction and support.
Collection development and acquisition for the DVD, Music and Reference collections.
Planned and orchestrated the conversion of the Library Management System from Horizon to Polaris. Implemented
a new print management/pc reservation application, called Envisionware. Each project included training staff and
educating patrons when the new services were introduced.

Software Engineering Manager, Nashua N.H. 1999-2004

Managed the Tru64 UNIX production and Source Control Mgmt environment.
Introduced a new HP-UX UNIX production and SCM environment following the Compaq/Hewlett-Packard merger.
Facilities Management Project; designed & configured a 10,000 square foot test lab, overseeing HVAC, electrical,
network, hardware installations and maintenance issues.
Created hardware self-maintenance program, & spare parts inventory, for lab test systems. Saved $500K annually.
Designed an HP-UX production environment for newly formed UNIX software development team of ~160
engineers. Hired System Engineers, obtained requirements & ordered accurately configured UNIX servers.
Managed $20M capital budget, included preparing an annual capital plan, tabulating and presenting quarterly
updates, centralized order acquisition and asset management controls.
Project Lead for Tru64 UNIX migration to a new Source Control Management tool, ODE III V4.0. Migrated 10
years of Tru64 UNIX source code to new tool. Prepared impact statements, trained users, updated management,
contingency planning, field-testing. Migration was a success, with no impact to engineering deliverables.

Software Engineering Supervisor, Nashua, N.H 1988-1998

Supervised an Engineering Services group of 8 employees. Supported 400 UNIX software development engineers.
Delivered services including system management of computing environment (office computers & lab servers),
office and lab space management and capital asset management.
Managed subordinates priorities and performed salary planning & performance reviews for direct reports.
Planned and managed $1M annual capital budget, ordered and tracked $9M capital budget for entire organization.

Project Specialist, Nashua, N.H. 1984-1988

Arranged for the acquisition of new hardware pertinent to the ULTRIX Operating System development effort.
Interface and negotiate with hardware engineering and corporate committees to insure timely acquisition of
prototype hardware for the ULTRIX software engineering group.
Developed reports to track hardware delivery schedules, quantities needed and appropriate hardware configurations.

Marketing Specialist, Merrimack, N.H. 1980-1984

Planned and coordinated marketing communications projects for ULTRIX product set.
Managed product name selection, worked with Management, Engineering, Marketing & Legal Department.
Coordinated production of sales support materials including artistic theme, style and color; brochures, sales guides
and slide presentations. Received Distinctive Merit Award from Art Directors Club of Boston on brochures.

Assistant Business Reference Librarian for the Nashua Public Library. Interfaced daily with the local business
community, answering their business reference requests.
Managed the Nashua Public Library Business Reference Department when the Business Librarian was unavailable.
Assisted Business Reference Librarian with the design, creation and delivery of business research training sessions
offered to the local business community.
