This document outlines concrete design procedures for PDVSA projects, including:
- Referencing guides and specifications for concrete design, materials, and construction.
- Requiring concrete mix designs to meet minimum compressive strengths ranging from 100-350 kg/cm2 depending on the intended use and exposure of the concrete.
- Specifying testing schedules based on concrete quantity, with a minimum number of cylinders tested at 7 and 28 days to ensure design strengths are met.

Where the ultimate 28 day compressive strength of concrete in test cylinder falls below the strength specified for the class of conc. tested, at below proportional minimum 7 day strengths, the proportions, water content or temperature conditions shall be changed to secure the required strength. b. If the core tests indicate strenght of fifteen percent or more below those specified, the cost of coring and testing shall be at the contractors expense, remove all unstisfactory concrete from the work and replace it with sound concrete of the specified strength.
