MEMBER ADVISORY GROUP NAME: PMI STANDARDS MEMBER ADVISORY GROUP (STANDARDS MAG)

CHARTER EFFECTIVE DATE AND DURATION: 1 JANUARY 2014 TO 31 DECEMBER 2014

MEMBER ADVISORY GROUP PURPOSE:
(Overall charge, purpose, or focus of this committee in helping PMI Staff.)
The Standards MAG works in partnership with PMI Standards staff and serves in an advisory role on all matters related to
the governance and management of the PMI Standards Program, including peer-to peer communication with committee
volunteers leading or engaged in the standards development process; SME input into standards content; and a defined
role in the PMI consensus process under which PMI is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

1. To advise and support PMI Global Operations Center with annual operational PMI Standards Program responsibilities
and accountabilities through advice, counsel and direct participation, when appropriate
2. To consult with PMI members external to the Standards MAG (researchers or other experts) when appropriate
3. To provide member input into specific programs, projects or procedures
4. To assist in the recruitment and guidance of member-volunteers for projects
5. To assist in the communications about the program
6. To monitor the program and projects

DELIVERABLES:
(Products the Member Advisory Group is tasked to produce.)

MAG members advise the PMI Standards Manager in the development of PMI standards, including portfolio review,
technical and management issues, processes and procedures in the field of project management, external outreach, and
advocacy. They assist in the recruitment and guidance of member-volunteers for projects, facilitate communications about
the standards program, and monitor the development of program deliverables. Specific objectives are to ensure that:

Standards needs are properly identified
Academic and market research is completed
Standards development projects are properly chartered (research and development phases)
Standards project leadership teams are balanced and consist of individuals with the right expertise and skills
Standards project teams know what is expected of them
Standards projects and project teams progress in accord with their charter and other approved requirements

ADMINISTRATIVE AND REPORTING REQUIREMENTS:

Uses standard agenda, note-taking, and reporting templates
Provides progress reports to the Volunteer Engagement Liaison when requested

RESOURCES AND BUDGET:
(In terms of budget, staff, etc.)

The Standards MAG provides advice, support and recommendations to the PMI Standards Manager, who has the
responsibility and accountability for the annual operations to the PMI CEO/President. Budget is directed by the respective
PMI GOC Manager from whom expenditure authorization must be obtained and approved. The advisory group may not
appropriate nor reallocate targeted funds in the operational budget.

MEMBER ADVISORY GROUP COMPOSITION AND TERMS:

6-8 committee members, serving staggered 5 year terms as approved by the Standards Manager
Volunteer Engagement Liaison and other staff resources as assigned by the PMI President and CEO

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

Required:
Member in good standing for two years
Currently not involved in any other PMI volunteer activities
Has no conflict of interest (all PMI members and volunteers are bound to Rule of the Board 12.1, Board Members
Code of Conduct and the PMI Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct)

Member Advisory Group Specific:
Knowledge and experience in project, program and portfolio management
Experience in the application of standards in an organizational setting
Past participation in PMI standards development activities desirable
Balanced viewpoints (geographical and experiential)
