Hi and welcome to the fifth H&A edition of the Fantasy Freakos rave for 2012. It was tough going last week, with late withdrawals and several sub affected scores having a
major impact. We should get a few players back for this round, headed by Heath Shaw, but the great man Gary Ablett will not be one of them as hes already been ruled out by
the Suns.

Tomas Bugg
Just like Trent McKenzie, David Swallow, Danny Stanley, Sam Iles and Zac Smith were
last season, several of the aforementioned Giants should be considered as keepers,
despite their initial cash cow status. Giles is the most obvious of them all, with his
start to the year surpassing all expectations, ranking seventh in the league for points
scored across all ruckman, outperforming the likes of Ben McEvoy and Matthew
Kreuzer. In fact, his average of 87 DT points per game is only one less than Dean Cox.

Small defender Tomas Bugg is another player that has exceeded all expectations,
averaging 82 points per game which has included three scores of 90 plus, recording
better numbers than Sam Fisher, Reece Conca and Brian Lake. James McDonald
looks like featuring in most matches and given the inexperienced nature of the
side, he too should be considered as a keeper, possibly as insurance for an injury/
suspension more than anything. To the right, I have highlighted which players I
believe should be considered as keepers this year.

Ruck
Like we did with Gold Coast last year, loading up on Greater Western Sydney players
in our starting squads has been highly advantageous. Five of the top-seven price
increases this year have been by Giants players, with Jonathan Giles rising the most
of any player in the league up by $167,000. Round 5 NAB Rising Star nominee
Tomas Bugg is next best with a jump of $159,200, while team mates Dylan Shiel,
Devon Smith and Toby Greene have also increased substantially. James McDonald
and Adam Treloar will join that group in the coming weeks after enjoying their first
price rise for the year last round. So the question now has to be asked, are any of
them worth keeping?

If you were ever going to bring in a Geelong player, then this would be the week.
Casting our minds back to Round 19 last season, in one of the most one-sided
games ever witnessed, the Cats belted the hapless Demons to the tune of 186 points.
It was a mismatch if we ever saw one, with Geelong recording 228 more disposals,
65 more marks (23 more marks inside 50), 37 more inside 50s, nine more tackles
and 36 more scoring shots.

From a fantasy perspective it was a complete whitewash, with Geelong racking up a

combined 2,239 DT points compared to Melbournes 1,206, and from an individual
perspective this equated to 47 more points per player. Joel Selwood led the charge
that day with 43 disposals and 178 points, and thankfully he was cleared of any
wrong doing by the MRP and will play. Next best was Stevie J who turned one on,
finishing with 34 disposals, nine marks, seven goals and 171 points. His start to the
year has been poor by his standards, averaging 80 points per match down from a
career-high 107 last year, but at his price hes a very tempting proposition.
