Students with admission to studies in

Norway You must submit these


documents when you apply for a
residence permit

When you turn up to your appointment with the police or embassy/consulate you must hand
in copies of the documents on this list. You must also present the original documents.
If any of your documents are in a different language than Norwegian or English, you must
hand in a translation of the documents into Norwegian or English.
Documentation when you apply for the first time
passport and copy of passport
a signed cover letter from the Application Portal or an application form
a passport photo
documentation that you have paid the application fee
A letter of full-time admission from an approved educational institution, stating your
name, which studies you have admission to, at what level the studies are and how long
the program lasts.
documentation of funds corresponding to the amount of full support from the Norwegian
State Education Loan Fund. Student loans, grants, own funds or income from
employment can be included in these funds. If you are to pay tuition fees, this sum will
come in addition to those fees. If you are unable to set up a bank account in Norway we
can accept that you document that you have funds in an account in your home country. It
must be stated that the money is in your own account, and the documentation must be
certified by your bank
documentation which shows that you have somewhere to live in Norway, for example a
rental contract
power of Attorney form (if you want a representative to be able to talk with the UDI on
your behalf)
a signed version of this list
Additional requirements for some applications
If you submit the application in a country other than your home country
documentation that you have had legal residence in the country that you applied from for
the past six months
Documentation when you apply for a renewal
passport
a signed cover letter from the Application Portal or an application form
a passport photo
documentation that you have paid the application fee
statement on your study progress, and, if relevant, how many hours per week the
institution feels that you can work without your studies suffering
documentation of funds corresponding to the amount of full support from the Norwegian
State Education Loan Fund. Student loans, grants, own funds or income from
employment can be included in these funds. If you are to pay tuition fees, this sum will
come in addition to those fees. If you are unable to set up a bank account in Norway we
