TIMELINE FOR 2014 KENTUCKY FALL ELECTION

SEPTEMBER 3
Two (2) AFSCME regional coordinators start assignment. Both will be
assigned to tasks needed throughout the state and coordinated
through the state AFL-CIO. Both will report out of the Louisville office
but cover the entire state. Both will be attending the state AFL-CIO
meeting September 2nd in Frankfort for additional plans.

SEPTEMBER 15
Phone banks up and running out of the Louisville office and the United
Auto Workers Local 862 office (Fern Valley Road).

SEPTEMBER 18
Last day for County Clerks to mail absentee ballots to voters who
request absentee ballots prior to the printing of the ballots (within
3 days of the receipt of the printed ballots. Absentee ballots that are
requested subsequent to the receipt of the ballots by the County
Clerk shall be mailed to the voter within 3 days of the receipt of

OCTOBER 6
Deadline by the close of business to register to vote for the General
Election in the County Clerks office.

OCTOBER 17
Starting today, voter may make application to vote absentee in County
Clerks office at least 12 working days preceding election. [This time
period may vary depending on whether the county clerk intends to
conduct absentee voting on Saturdays and whether the clerk intends to
conduct absentee voting in the office for more than 12 working days
before an election.]

OCTOBER 22

First day voter and his/her spouse may request paper absentee ballot
because of medical emergency (within 14 days or less of election).

OCTOBER 17

First day voters may vote early by voting machine in County Clerks
office. (It varies from county to county so must check with county
clerk.) Kentucky law stipulates that in order to be eligible for early
voting, the following are valid reasons:

You will be out of the county on Election Day;
You are Military, their Dependents, or an Overseas Citizen;
You are Military personnel confined to base and learn of
your confinement within seven days or less of an election;
You are a Student who resides outside the county or a
resident who temporarily resides outside of the state, and
will not be in the county on Election Day;
You are a voter or the spouse of a voter who has surgery
scheduled that will require hospitalization on Election Day;
You are a precinct election officer appointed to serve in
precinct than your own;
You are a pregnant woman in your third trimester;

You are a Alternate precinct officer;
You are a County Board of Elections members;
You are a County Board of Elections staff member;
You are a Deputy County clerk;
You are a State Board of Elections staff member;


OCTOBER 28

Last day to apply for a mail-in absentee ballot. Applications must be
received by close of business on this day.

Last day for any voter who has received an absentee ballot by mail but
who knows at least 7 days before Election Day that he or she will be in
the county on election day and who has not voted the absentee ballot
to cancel his or her absentee ballot and return it to the county clerks
office (no later than 7 days before the election). Such a voter shall vote
in person.

Members of the Armed Forces confined to a military base on Election
Day who learn of that confinement within 7 days or less of an election
may make application to vote absentee in the County Clerks office.



NOVEMBER 4
GENERAL ELECTION DAY. POLLS ARE OPEN FROM 6:00AM TO 6:00PM.
