Kindergarten
Kindergarten students will be working to strengthen ne motor skills such as properly
gripping a pencil and paintbrush, drawing a variety of lines, tracing around an object,
and cutting with scissors. Students will be able to name the colors of the rainbow in the
correct order and identify the primary colors (red, yellow, and blue) and the secondary
colors (orange, green, and purple). Students will learn color mixing by creating a tissue
paper collage. We will continue to practice routines such as raising our hands before we
speak, staying seated while working on art projects, and cleaning up after working.
First Grade
First grade students will continue to investigate different types of lines (straight, diago-
nal, curved, horizontal, vertical, spiral, zigzag, thick, and thin) and shapes (geometric and
organic). Students will explore how repeated lines and shapes create patterns. While
studying color mixing and reviewing primary and secondary colors, students will deter-
mine how colors communicate mood in an artwork. We will also begin discussing differ-
ent ways artists can portray space.
Second Grade
Second grade students will investigate different types of lines creating bold and ne
lines, and repeated lines in order to create patterns. Students will use overlapping, posi-
tion on the picture plane, and size to communicate depth in a 2-D artwork. Students will
investigate color creating artworks with warm and cool colors, and will explore symme-
try by drawing and cutting out symmetrical shapes.

Calling All Recyclables!
Artists are always on the hunt for interesting materials.
Please consider donating any of the following to our
art room: old shirts (to use as smocks), fabric scraps,
cardboard boxes (small or large), corks, bubble wrap,
gourds, owers, ribbon, beads, screws, bolts, textured
and interesting paper, puzzle pieces, stamps, plastic
strawberry or tomato containers, etc. If youre not sure

Kinder
Los estudiantes de Kinder estarn trabajando para fortalecer las habilidades motoras nas
tales como el agarrar apropiadamente un lpiz y un pincel, dibujar una variedad de lneas,
trazar alrededor de un objeto y cortar con tijeras. Los estudiantes sern capaces de nombrar
los colores del arco iris en el orden correcto y de identicar los colores primarios (rojo, amarillo
y azul) as como los colores secundarios (naranja, verde y morado). Los estudiantes aprendern
a mezclar los colores haciendo un mosaico (collage) con una toalla de papel. Continuaremos
practicando rutinas tales como levantar nuestras manos antes de hablar, quedarnos sentados
mientras trabajamos en nuestros proyectos de arte y limpiar despus que terminamos de
trabajar.
Primer grado
Los estudiantes de primer grado continuarn investigando los diferentes tipos de lneas (recta,
diagonal, curva, horizontal, vertical, espiral, en zig-zag, gruesa y delgada) as como guras
(geomtricas y orgnicas). Los estudiantes explorarn cmo las lneas y las guras que se
repitan forman algo que se llama patrones. Al estudiar la mezcla de colores y al revisar los
colores primarios y secundarios , los estudiantes determinarn cmo los colores nos comunican
estados de nimo en una pieza de arte. Tambin empezaremos a hablar de las distintas formas
en que los artistas pueden representar el espacio.
Segundo grado
Los estudiantes de segundo grado investigarn los tipos de lneas al hacer lneas gruesas
y delgadas as como lneas repetidas para formar patrones. Los estudiantes usarn la
sobreposicin y la posicin en el plano de una imagen as como el tamao para comunicar
el concepto de profundidad en una pieza de arte en segunda dimensin (2D). Los
estudiantes investigarn el color haciendo piezas de arte con colores tibios y frescos y
explorarn el concepto de simetra dibujando y cortando guras simtricas.

Solicitando todo los materiales reciclables!
Los artistas siempre estn buscando materiales interesantes. Por
favor, considere donar cualquiera de los siguientes materiales para
nuestro saln de arte: camisas viejas (para usar como batas),
pedazos de tela, cajas de cartn (pequeas o grandes), tapones de
corcho, envolturas plsticas con burbujas (bubble wrap), jcaras,
ores, listones, cuentas, tornillos, candados, papel con diseos
interesantes o con patrones impresos, pedazos de rompecabezas,
estampillas, contenedores de plstico de pur de tomate o fresas,
etc. Si no estn seguros si los podemos usar, por favor, mndenme
