Our work focuses on the development of a prototype to be used in a building automation using DALI protocol and which also integrates wireless sensor network (WSN). DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) is a protocol dedicated purely for lighting control. It allows individual control and monitoring of lighting systems, and also provides precise dimming. DALI promises flexibility in design, and ease of installation. Our main purpose is to provide the end consumer with an economical fully centralized system in which home appliances are managed by an IEEE 802.15.4- based wireless sensor network. Adapting the standard to a WSN allows integrating DALI devices as a part of the WSN, expanding the traditional DALI bus and removing wires, results in a reduction of installation costs. It allows monitoring and control applications for home end user and gains energy efficiency.
