In m current role, I am responsible for the pastoral and academic support of
approximately 250 undergraduate students.
Dealing with students with difficulties. Talking with students in crisis, being sensitive to
student needs, etc
Maintained the department's Extenuating Circumstances caseload, invovling record
keeping and the presentation of accurate and relevant reports to the department's
Examinations Board
Diability Contact - being the departmental contact point for student's with disabilities.
Year One Personal Tutor: responsible for academic support of our entire year one
cohort, of some 60-70 students on average. Arranging regular meetings with tutees to
discuss work and progress, as well as degree and life aspirations.
I am also responsible for teaching duties on a range of undergraduate modules.
1st year Religious Studies: lecturing, seminar tutor and course co-ordinator
Year 1 Co-ordinator (a role above the level of my particular post)
Years 2 and 3: designed and taught 3 academic modules on Islamic History, Sufism
(Islamic mysticism) and Shi`ia Islam (a historical theology course)

Islamic History: the First 150 years, both courses were designed and taught by me

Co-ordinated the department's lifelong learning provision, in conjunction with the School

Jobcentre: I was responsible for interviewing clients for job vacancies, for taking job

Job Interview Guarantee Team: part of a small team whose role was to match selected
clients to pre-marketed vacancies. This involved developing and maintaining a client
caseload, for which I had to interview prospective clients to establish their suitability. I
was also part of the marketing team, which involved meeting with employers and
marketing our services.
Assistant Disability Employment Adviser: my role here was to help the DEA maintain
his caseload of disabled jobseekers
Unemployment Benefit: I was involved in the administration and payment of
unemployment benefit.
Administrative Assistant
In my first job, I worked on the Restart Administration Team. My role was to assist in
the clerical and administrative duties of the team, including arranging appointments,
writing letters and dealing with members of the public
