SELMA HIGHs 5 Do you know Selma Highs FIVE? Believing, Encouraging, Accepting, Respecting,
Supporting. Learn the FIVE now and walk the walk of our FIVE each day.


SHS ID CARD All students and staff are expected to visibly wear their SHS ID card while at school
throughout the entire day. The districts goal of a Culture of Safety supports this student
and staff expectation as clearly visible SHS ID allows for quick and easy recognition of
students and staff during school hours. All students are provided one free school ID and
one free school lanyard. Replacement ID cards can be obtained at the ASB finance window
for $5.00 and a replacement lanyard for $1.00.

CONGRATS Congratulations to Selma HS MCJROTC for once again being recognized as a Naval Honor
School. A recognition as one of the top performing programs in our region. This is the
fourth year in a row and 15th time our program has received this honor. We want to thank
all administrators/staff and students for their continued support of our program during our
annual inspections, as this recognition couldn't be possible without your support.


TEACHER OF
THE WEEK Don't forget to vote for your favorite teacher for teacher of the week. You can vote in the
student office, just drop your vote in the teacher of the week box.



AUTO BODY
AND PAINT Would you like to learn how to do auto body and paint? Talk to Mr. Olinger in room #304,
the woodshop for more information and to sign up. The class starts Sept. 8th



ALL STUDENTS Students please remember to follow the dress code. Straps must be wider than 2 inches;
shorts must be mid-thigh, no holey pants, no oversized shirts. No red on red. Dress code
is being strictly enforced and the consequence is Saturday School.

LIBRARY/AFTER
SCHOOL PROGRAM The library is open every day after school from 3:30 p.m. 6:00 p.m. through the After
School program. Look to use the library for studying and to complete homework each day.
A free snack is provided to any student in the After School Program. More classes coming
soon!




JR/SR PRIVILEGE
CARD Junior/Senior privilege card and walk home pass applications are available at the table
outside the student office. Applications are due by Friday, August 29th at 3:30. Please
make sure your applications are complete and if you will be transporting other card holders
that you attach a copy of your CDL and insurance card. If you have any questions, please
see Ms. Bonilla.

SAT & ACT Seniors: If you have not yet taken your SAT or ACT test and you are planning on applying
to a UC or CSU campus, you will need to sign up ASAP! December is the deadline to have
your tests taken. For the SAT Oct. 11

CELL PHONES &
iPODS Please be respectful of the NO cell phone & iPOD rule from 8 AM 3:30 PM. If your cell
phone is confiscated, A Parent/guardian must come to Selma High to pick up the item. No
excuses. Please be respectful of the Selma High School Rules.



CLUB RUSH The annual Club Rush will be held next Wednesday, Sept. 3 during an extended lunch. This
is a great opportunity for students to learn more about which clubs and organizations
interest them. Visit the school website to learn more about each of the clubs and groups on
our campus.


BACK TO SCHOOL
DANCE The 1st All-School Dance will be held next Friday, Sept. 5 from 10-midnight after our 1st
home football game. This Southern themed Hoe Down Throw Down will be held in the
quad and DJd by Freestyle Entertainment. The cost is $5 w/ ID and Free w/ ASB card. All
freshmen and Link Crew Leaders will also be admitted at no charge. Guest passes are not
available for this dance. Current SHS students only! We are also working on getting a
Taco Truck and Jamba Juice to come out for this event.


BACK TO SCHOOL
RALLY On Friday, September 5 we will be on a special schedule for our 1st Sports Rally of the year.
This rally will be out at the football stadium and we need all varsity fall athletes will be
recognized. Make sure to wear your class colors to showcase your section. You never
know if your section might show up in the yearbook. There will be class competitions and
activities. Bring your spirit!
Class Colors: Freshmen- Gray, Sophomores- Orange, Juniors- White and Seniors-Black.
Class shirts may or may not arrive prior to this rally. Listen to the bulletin for more info.



ASB CARDS ASB Cards should be here prior to next Friday. ASB Cards are still available for sale in the
Finance Office for $55.



STUDENT PARKING
PERMIT All students who drive to school need to obtain a parking permit! You can pick up an
application in the front office with Mrs. Salinas or see Lucy. There is no cost for a parking
permit and only need a copy of their Drivers License and current insurance card.


LINK CREW Attention Link Leaders: Dont forget about your Freshmen! Please remember to stay in
touch and remind them of the upcoming events. Whats the one thing that most seniors
say by the time their seniors? I wish I would have been more involved! Inspire your
freshmen and every student on campus to make the most of every moment and dont live
with the regret of waiting too long to get involved. Your time here at SHS goes fast and the
memories will last a lifetime!



SCHOOL RULES All school rules will be enforced effective beginning the first day of school (dress code,
no gum, no profanity, no harassment, and no inappropriate material). All students must
have their student IDs with them while on campus or at any school activity.

Students are reminded that the Selma Unified Dress Code applies to all after school events
throughout the year. Students will not be admitted if violating the district dress code.

SATURDAY
SCHOOL The first Saturday school of the 2014-2015 school year will be September 6th.



WATER POLO Any Girls and Boys Interested in playing Water Polo see Coach Wood Immediately.


GIRLS TENNIS Any 9th or 10th grade girl still wanting to play tennis this season please see Mr. Jenkins or
Mrs. Sultenfuss ASAP!
