Comparing of Christian and Slavnic names in the Deani area based

on THE Turkish census from 1485. and Deani charters

It is a happy circumstance that having before us Deani Charters and the Turkish census of the Skadar
Region from 1485, we can make a reliable list of Slavonic and Christian names. These were commonly
used across the spacious area of the Deani feudal estate from the first half of the 14th century almost
to the end of the 15th. With the help of the chart appended to this work, it is possible to follow the fre
quency of the names used, not only in this region as a whole, but also in particular residential areas and
zones. The conclusion is that Slavonic names are predominant over Christian, which derives from the
fact that the Serbs of that region, even throughout the Turkish rule, have stayed true to their traditional
Slavonic (and Serbian) names.
