Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for
Management Development (SDMIMD), ranked among the

Corporate Social Responsibility - Approaches and
Practices for Inclusive Growth
The conference is a part of SDMIMD's endeavour in the
emerging field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The conference will bring together academicians,
practitioners, researchers and students of management
to deliberate and reflect on issues pertaining to CSR
strategies and building socially responsible businesses.
The conference will be held on November 13 & 14, 2014
at SDMIMD, Mysore. Inclusive growth is a necessity and
the purpose of busi ness. Corporate Soci al
Responsibility is a route to inclusive growth. With the
introduction of Companies Act 2013, India became the
first country to mandate spending on CSR activities
through statutory provision. Rationale for holding this
conference is to discuss and build on factors that help in
achieving the goals of inclusivity and building socially
responsible enterprises.
Objectives of the conference:
1 To provide a platform for practitioners,
academicians and researchers to understand the
various facets of CSR
2 To appreciate the nuances of planning, managing
and implementation of CSR
3 To share experiences in formulation and
implementation of CSR
4 To provide an opportunity for networking of
professionals and researchers associated with CSR
5 To encourage presentation of work by doctoral
candidates and management students
Target audience:
The target audience for the conference are
academicians, corporates associated with CSR and
those planning to be involved with CSR activities and
research scholars. Research contributions are invited
from all constituents of target audience. The
contributions can be in the form of research papers,
case studies and empirically based conceptual analysis.
Themes:
Under the theme of CSR- Approaches & Practices for
Inclusive Growth, sub themes are:
Being a socially responsible business
Formulation of CSR strategies
Financing and budgeting of CSR
Implication of Companies Act 2013 for CSR activities
Approaches for CSR implementation
Case Studies
Award for best research contribution
Best research contribution, as decided by a panel of
experts, will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000/- and
a certificate.
Invitation for research contributions
Academicians, practitioners, researchers and students
of management are invited to send the abstracts of
their papers initially. The abstracts would be subjected
to blind review by an expert panel. The contributors
whose abstracts have been short listed by the expert
panel would be advised to send in their full papers
which would also be blind reviewed.
Guidelines to authors
An abstract should not be more than 500 words and
five key words. Full papers should not be more than
5000 words and not more than 15 pages (A4 size), with
APA style reference list. Font Times New Roman, Font
size 12, Single line spaced. Up to three authors are
allowed for each paper. Authors need to send abstract
and the full papers as word document only. Correct
name, designation, e-mail ID of the authors, affiliating
organisation need to be clearly mentioned in the
abstract and the full paper. A declaration should be
provided from the corresponding author along with
paper stating that the work is original and does not
violate Copyright.
The authors of the selected papers would be invited to
present the same in the conference. International
contributors may be allowed to present their paper in
absentia subject to payment of conference fees.
Corporates are encouraged to write cases based on
their experiences. (For cases based on primary data, the
responsibility of obtaining necessary permission lies
with the researcher)
Invited speakers and technical sessions
The conference would also have leading corporate
leaders presenting technical sessions to provide the
audience better insights and perspectives in this
emerging area. The eminent invited speakers include
Mr. J.P. Haran, Managing Director, Tata Consulting
Engineers and Mr. Soumitra Bhattacharya, CEO, Bosch
Ltd. , India.
