Steels for challenging linepipe projects
Our high-quality linepipe plate meets the very latest technological challenges, including resistance to sour gas, for conveyance of corrosive fluids,
large wall-thicknesses for deep-sea pipelines and high toughness for use under arctic conditions. So the pipe mills all around the world trust in the
quality of Dillinger.
As an iron and steel works with hot metal and steel production carefully matched to the needs of our heavy-plate rolling mill, we provide tailor-
made material design from the metal heat through to the finished pipemaking plate, a capability assured by our efficient production facilities and
more than thirty years of experience as a leading producer of pipemaking plate, who knows that the following forming process has influences on
the mechanical properties of the steel. The close technical and commercial cooperation is for this reason particularly important for us.
The process route used in our steelplant assures maximum possible slab cleanness and homogeneity. The world's largest rolling stand, exerting
a rolling force of 110MN, permits maximum degrees of deformation in thermomechanical rolling of continuous-cast slabs of up to 400mm in
thickness. Rolling is followed by the high-efficiency cooling line, enabling us to produce plate with exceptionally fine-grained structures and
excellent strength and toughness properties, combined with extremely good weldability.
BTC Pipeline, the worlds longest oil pipeline conveys up to one million barrels daily of crude oil from the Caspian Sea, via Georgia,
to Turkey.
