How- ever, he is rcj iorted to have trained f ai t hf ul l y f or this contest and is said to be in the host condition of his lif e. Among his f ollowers in this city, and they are many, the assurance of his splendid f orm is all that is de- sired. When in the army, Steuhmer kept himself in good shape and as a consequence he was Just about un- beatable. In several of his service matches he polished of f opponents with a single punch f rom his wicked lef t hand. Weight made little dif f er- ence to him, he was willing to swap punches with middle or light heavy- weights as well as taking care of any aspiring welters. Af ter his discharge f rom the army he f ell back into his old habits. However, several months ago ho had a sudden awakening and since that time he has kept himself in f ighting trim. He has been doing his training in Chicago and has been working out with Bat Levinsky and Tommy Gibbons. He is bubbling over with conf idence and says Thorp wi ll go the same route that Eddie O ilmoro. Red Billings, Leo K elly and others did. Wi ll Swap Punches. There is every reason to believe that this bout will provide more real action than any that has ./ recently been staged here. Both principals are 1 aggressive, slashing type of nil]- lers and with each carrying a knock- j out wallop, in either hand, they are , tvnmd to got j arred and j olted now antl then. This will not be the only real f ight i on tho bill. Roscos Hall and Phil 1 I.ongo are both reported to be in ex- cellent shape and ready f or the gong. . ' IO WA CITY, Dec. 7.As the mat- ter now stands it Is quite pVobable that Iowa and Ames will not meet on tho gridiron next year. At least, this f eeling prevaHs among athletic authorities at Iowa City. A letter was received at Iowa City last week f rom Ames Jo the ef f ect that probably no date but No- vember 19 would be acceptable to the State college f or the a.nnual classic. A f ew days later a tele- gram notif ied' the Hawkeye author- ities' that the game would have to be played November 19 or not at all. At the recent meeting of the "Big Ten" coaches both Iowa' s and Northwestern' s schedules shaped up so that November 19 was the best date f or their game. With the con- f erence schedule coming in f or f irst consideration it was decided to play at Evanston on this date. O ctober 22 is an open date f or the Hawkeyes and it was of f ered to the Cyclones. However, Ames baa scheduled K ansas f or this date and j if it was to meet Iowa it would be necessary to rearrange the schedule and it is doubtf ul if this task will be undertaken. While in all likelihood the State university and State college will not meet on the gridiron in 1921, it thought, this will have no bearing | brln^-in" on their meeting in other sports. $"C4 l)O o' Supreme Court Reverses Base- Ball Judgment WASHINGTON. D. C.. Dec. T. The District Court of Appeals today reversed the recent judgment for |X'64,(100 granted by the District Supreme court against the major baseball leagues, and in favor of the -Baltimore federal league club, Which claimed a violation of the anti-trust laws by the use of the "reserve clause" In the players' contests. The Appellate court held that play- ing baseball did not constitute Inter- state commerce, as defined by United States Supreme court decisions, and that the anti-trust law did not apply. The "reserve clause" imposed restric- tions, the court held, which, related directly to the conservation "of tho personnel of the clubs and did Wot affect the movements of the Federal league clubs.
