ATHLETICS MANAGER BOB MELVIN:

On Sotos injury:

First of all when he went to block the ball to throw the runner out at first, his back tightened up. And I had plenty of pinch
hitters. I dont know how he is now, but I know these things usually last a couple of days.

On Hammels outing:

Good. We gave up a couple then came back and tied it. Obviously, the Morrison home run hurt. But hes been throwing
the ball really well his last few times out. In situations like tonight, one swing beats him.

On offensive performance:

We drew some walks and we had some guys on, we just couldnt get a big hit. We got a couple early that tied it, but it just
wasnt enough. We had a couple base runners in the 9
th
and had a chance. I had my best hitter up there in Coco against
Rodney, then two or three hitters came up behind him and just couldnt do anything.
