1. PURPOSE The purpose of this procedure is to assure proper paint applications, safe and controlled touch-up painting of piping and components, equipment and structural steels in the field using correct materials and equipment in accordance with SAUDI ARAMCO project specifications. 2. SCOPE This method is applicable to piping and components, equipment and structural steels that require touch-up/repair painting after installation. It does not cover FBE coated pipe. This applies to Paint damage during transportation, handling and erection. 3. DEFINITIONS Coating : an application of protective or decorative covering which can be in the form of liquid, paste, tape or powder. Ensure full compliance by all painting foremen, painters, scaffolder and labor regarding execution of the work In accordance with Saudi Aramco project requirement and specifications. Confirm the availability of material, tool, equipment and required personnel who carry out the work. Conduct brief meeting with all the involved personnel in painting. Quality Control Inspector Monitor daily coating activities and conduct inspections in accordance with approved project SATIP and associated documents. Prepare daily documentation and final acceptance documents when required. Maintain close relationship with customer representative. Safety supervisor Check the work areas for any unsafe conditions. Ensure that all safety requirements have been adequately addressed and work shall be carried out in accordance with Saudi Aramco project safety procedures. Engineering Department Prepare method of statement in accordance with project specifications and submit to Saudi Aramco for review and approval. Provide AFC drawings, material specification and other related document require on coating job. 6. PROCEDURE 6.1 General requirement 6.1.1 Ensure that supervisor and coating applicator hold valid coating certification card issued by Saudi Aramco 6.1.2 Saudi Aramco Paint data sheet for coating system (APCS) are always available on site. 6.1.3 Prepared surfaces and Sanded areas are cleaned of any contaminants by brushing or by air blowing with clean dry air.

6.1.4 All edges of the original coating are feathered out at least 50mm beyond bare metal 6.1.5 Gloss of existing coating are removed by sanding or by equivalent means prior to over coating. 6.1.6 Paint shall not be applied if one of the following conditions exists (unless paint is specifically formulated for averted condition) a. Substrate temperature is less than 10 0 C of the temperature limit given in the applicable Saudi Aramco Data Sheet. b. Substrate temperature less than 3 0 C above the dew point. c. Maximum surface temperature during paint application shall not exceed paint Manufacturer recommendations as per Technical Data Sheet. 6.1.7 Paint material for touch up is supplied by the same manufacturer. If paint material or coating used for repair/ touch \-up is different from original applied coaing system, paint material for touch up meets OVER Coating Compatibility Chart (SAES- H-001) 6.1.8 Paint shall not be applied during adverse weather conditions such as; but not restricted to following. a. Wind is strong enough to blow sand, salt spray or other foreign matter to the surface being painted b. Rain 6.1.9 Cover areas adjacent to defects with adhesive tape before commencing paint touch- up, apply paint by observing WFT&DFT requirement for particular system with required overlapping, maintain the recoating interval period and remove the adhesive tape.

6.2.1 Paints and thinners shall be stored in well ventilated buildings and storage temperatures as recommended in manufactures data sheet 6.2.2 Paint material used at construction site must be covered with appropriate canvas, tarpaulins, or equivalent for temporary storage period not to exceed 14 days 6.2.3 Temperature sensitive polymerization paint materials must be stored in air conditioned storage area to maintain the temperature as recommended in manufacturers data sheet 6.2.4 Each paint container should be marked in accordance with 09-SAMSS-060. 6.2.5 Paint should not be used from a container showing sign of leakage 6.2.6 Paint which have exceed the self-life shall be set aside and not be used 6.3 Provide scaffolding and man lift for elevated areas if required. 6.4 Pre inspections to evaluate paint system, type of damages, surface contaminations and applicable repair paint system shall be done as per Saudi Aramco Applicable Standard and Procedures. 6.5 Repair procedure for immersion coatings 6.5.1 Surface preparation shall be done as per manufacturers data sheet or Aramco standard and specification 6.5.2 Clean defective area by solvent or detergent wash. 6.5.3 For areas less than 0.1m 2 , grind to a rough metal surface using at least an 80 grit disc sander. Feather edge the coating at least 50mm beyond bare metal. 6.5.5 Remove dust and debris by brush or vacuum

6.5.6 Coating shall be applied observing the WFT and DFT requirements for the particular system. Recoating intervals shall be in accordance with the manufacturers data sheets. 6.5.7 Cover areas adjacent to defects with heavy duty textile or fabric adhesive tape before commencing repair or patch up. 6.5.8 Apply coating by brush for areas less than 0.1m2 to the original specification except that the first coat of a multi-coat system shall be thinned. 6.6 Repair of coating for Atmospheric services 6.6.1 Surface preparation and application shall be done as per manufacturers data sheet or Aramco standard/ specification 6.6.2 Using appropriate equipment and tools prepare the surface and apply paint/coating to repair/ touch up specified equipment, structural steels and piping. 6.6.3 Coating shall be applied observing the WFT and DFT requirements for the particular system. Re coating intervals shall be accordance with the manufacturers data sheets 6.6.4 Succeeding application of coats are inspected and accepted per SAIC-H-2030 6.6.5 Total DFT of repair coating is measured per SAIC-H-2031. DFT confirms to the specific requirement of the respective APCS data sheet.

8.1 Read the material data sheet and be aware of manufacturers recommendation. 8.2 Wear full body harness when working at heights 8.3 Wear blasting and painting protective clothing and working gears.
