Did you know? There are half a million people living adjacent to the park. They earn money from small businesses as employees of reserves and lodges Go on a whale-watch cruise. Pack light clothes and be prepared to get soaking wet Enjoy the braai and picnic area at Mission Rocks. Be sure to visit the rock pools. You can see four of the Big Five here Visit Cape Vidal for a picnic, braai, swimming, snorkeling (at low tide), shing and a walk along the beach Explore the wildlife in the area through horse riding. You could see zebra, wildebeest, bushbuck, warthog, duiker and impala. One could also go horse riding on the beach Take the tour at Veyane Cultural Village and see what its like in a traditional Zulu community with huts, performances and re-enactments You may choose to swim at St Lucias beaches. However, the beaches are not protected by shark nets and there are no life-savers. There are extremely strong currents at times Go on a day (self-drive) or a guided night drive that takes you into iSimangaliso. During the day you can spot the Big Five, antelope and zebra. At night you could see leopards, bushbabies, hyenas, genets, hippo and more Visit the Isiphaphalazi Buttery House, where you will see displays of indigenous buttery species Take a walk on the iGwalagwala Trail. Here you can spot sh eagles, kingshers, terns and herons A hippo and crocodile boat cruise will give you background on the area Spend time at the Crocodile and Education Centre. Visit during feeding demonstrations on Saturdays or Wednesdays On an overcast day, the Hluhluwe - iMfolozi Game Reserve is the ideal place to visit. Animals move around and you can spot them easier. The park was listed as SAs rst World Heritage Site for its unique natural beauty and biodiversity. iSimangaliso means miracle and wonder in isiZulu Did you know? Coelacanths were once thought to be extinct but were rediscovered in 1938. The coelacanths that live near Sodwana Bay rest in caves at depths of 90m to 150m. The average weight is 80kg and they can reach 2m in length. Scientists believe coelacanths may live as long as 80 to 100 years

The attractions in this jewel are Black Rock, Mabibi Beach and Island Rock 1 Kosi Bay is iSimangalisos more popular destination for shing.
