Text 2

Early one morning, Umar was walking to the bus stop to catch a bus to
school. A loud, screeching noise suddenly pierced the air. Umar realized that there
had been an accident. A small boy was lying unconscious on the road, and the car
that had hit him had already run away.
Umar was confused and frightened. is the boy dead? Umar asked himself.
However, the boy was still breathing. Umar could see that the boy had bruises all
over his face and arms.
Umar did not know what to do. Few cars passed along this road at this time of
the day. The nearest house which he could go to for help was his own, but it would
take ten minutes to walk there. Umar finally decided to stay with the boy until
somebody came by.
Time passed very slowly so it seemed to Umar. The boy was still
unconscious, and Umar prayed for the boy to regain consciousness.
Umar sprang to his feet at the sound of an approaching car. He waved
frantically at the driver to stop. Umar asked the driver, You will help this boy, won

you, Sir? The driver was kind. He carried the injuried boy to the car. Umar went with
them to the hospital. Later, the driver took Umar to the police station to report the
accident.
Umar had a lot to tell to his friends that day at school. All his friends though

Once upon a time a hawk fell in love with a hen. The hawk flew down from

The hen loved the brave, strong hawk and wishes to marry him. But she said,

you. Then, we can fly together.
The hawk agreed. Before he went away, he gave the hen a ring. This is to

So it happened that the hen had already promised to marry a rooster. So,

Once upon a time, there lived in Japan a peasant and his wife. They were sad
couple because they had no children. They kept praying to their god pleading to give
them a child.
While cutting wood by a stream one day, the man saw a large peach floating on
the water. Her ran to pick it up. His wife was excited because she had never seen
such a large peach before. They were about to cut the peach when they heard a
voice from inside.
The couple were too surprised to do anything. The peach then cracked open,
and there was a beautiful baby boy inside. The couple were very happy, of course.
They named the baby Momotaro, which meant Peach boy.
Momotaro grew up to be a clever, courageous young man. His parents loved
him very much
One day, Momotaro told his parents that he was going to fight the pirates who
always attacked their village. These pirates lived on an island a few kilometers away.
Momotaros mother packed his food, and his father gave him a sword. Having
blessed Momotaro, they sent him off on his journey.
Sailing on his boat, Momotaro met an eagle going in the same direction. They
became good friends, soon, both of them arrived on the island of the Pirates.
Momotaro drew out the sacred sword his father had given him and began to
fight the pirates. The eagle flew over the thieves heads, pecking at their eyes.
Finally, the pirates were defeated.
Momotaro brought home all goods that pirates had stolen. His parents were
proud of him, and they were overjoyed at his victory and safe return.

During the June holidays, my class organized a picnic. We decided to go to
Sentosa, one of Singapores well-developed island resorts. Each pupil had to pay
sixty cents for transport. Also every pupil talking part had to get a letter of consent
from his or her parent.
On the day of the picnic, I woke up early and was pleased to see the sun
shining brightly. After breakfast, I packed all the necessary things in a bag and went
to school
Punctually at 9 ocloc, the school bus picked us up and we were soon on our
way to the harbour. We crossed over to Sentosa by ferry. As it was a weekend, the
island was crowded with merry picnickers and tourists. We walked to the stretch of
beach fringing the lagoon. It was an ideal picnic spot. The green atmosphere was
most relaxing.
We spent the rest of the morning swimming and playing in the cool water. At
noon, we decided to have lunch. We unpacked our picnic baskets and started eating.
The food disappeared very quickly. It was lovely sitting there on the sunny
beach with the sea water lapping at our feet as we ate
