Description
The Evolution Model RC-2 Hydro-Grip Packer is a
set-down packer with button-type hold-down and
built-in unloader. It is used for pressure acidizing,
formation fracturing and other squeeze operations.

Running Procedure

1. Make the Model RC-2 Hydro-Grip up on the
tubing string and run to setting depth. The
unloader will automatically be in the open position.
This permits free circulation around the tool during
running in and prevents the hold-down buttons
from dragging against the casing.

2. To set the Model RC-2 Hydro-Grip run the packer
to one foot below setting depth, pick up to setting
depth, and then rotate the tubing to the right
turn at the tool while lowering. The application of
set-down weight closes the unloader, sets the slips,
and packs off the Packing Element. At a
temperature of 70 F., the table to the left shows
the forces required to pack off.

NOTE - The 90 Hard Packing Element will be
considered the standard Packing Element on the
size 28. The 80 Hard Packing Element should be
used only when the available set-down weight, as
the tool is insufficient to pack off a 90 Hard
Packing Element. The Size 28A High Temperature
tool uses a 90 Hard Element and has increased
diameters on Gage and Guide Rings.

3. When the pressure differential is in favor of the
tubing, the hold-down buttons are forced out
against the casing, thus preventing the tool from
moving up the hole.
