(') TA*RO++E TUBE CLEANIN+ SYSTE,
The tube cleaning system is installed to keep the inside surface of the
evaporator heat recovery section and brine heater tubes clean whilst
the desalination plant is still in operation.
('( O*ERATION
Sponge rubber balls are injected into the heat exchangers, and
because they have the same specific gravity as the brine they are
distributed evenly throughout the system.
They remove deposits which tend to build up inside the tubes, which in
turn would reduce the heat transfer process.
The balls are retrieved (collected) by the ball strainer which is
downstream of the brine heater.
They are collected by the ball collecting basket which is situated in the
ball collector. The balls can be observed through a sight glass on the
ball collector.
The balls are injected into the recycle brine again via the injection
noles and ball recirculation pump.

The bearing water is supplied from the product water header and is fed
to the pump bearing water header.
The pump, which you met in the pumps module, is one of two, one of
which is standby.
This pump is used for!
a. Sealing water.
b. "ubricating water.

b. %ondensate return pumps.
c. $olyphosphate feed pumps.
&ote! Stoppage of bearing water causes main pumps to trip.
