University School of Law and Legal Studies (USLLS) Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University C- Block, Dwarka Sector-16 C, New Delhi, India - 110078 University Website: ipu.ac.in contact: 011-25302570 on at (30 th January to 2 nd February 2015) About the Conference Mother earth is a unique planet unparalleled by its wide variety of ora and fauna. It is distnctve in the sense that it is the only planet where human life knowingly exists. It has gifed human beings with the richness of minerals and natural resources besides the biodiversity, forests and wildlife adding feathers to its crown. Human intelligence has made the man walk on the moon and well beyond in space to use the resources for taking civilizaton to the present era of extreme advancement reected in urbanizaton, industrializaton and global trade. Using his knowledge and skill the man has created a space for himself full of mundane comfort through modern amenites, but with quite disregard to the aesthetcs and beauty of the environment. Man did not give a friends eye to the nature and kept on carrying out the actvites detrimental to its interest. This is no less than an aggression resultng into soaring temperature, disease, unrest, loss of compassion because of polluton of air, water, soil, atmosphere, mind, system and what not. The miseries of men are incessantly multplying day by day at a very high degree of acceleraton. Social, economic and politcal conicts are adding fuel to the re and man seems in an unabated war with his own existence. South Asian countries are facing all these environmental challenges like any other part of the world. Additonally, they have been a recipient of some of the worst forms of catastrophic eco-aggression in the form of tsunamis, oods, landslides, drought, famine, cloud bursts, earthquakes, etc. Callousness in regulaton of human actvites causing frequent threats to safe environment by harmful industrial emissions is also a serious concern. This all can be stopped and mitgated by a united and concerted eort of the people of South Asia together. South Asia is denitely divided by politcal borders, but it is one Culture. This beautful trust, an unrivalled possession handed over by forefathers, is for contnued inter-generatonal justce. Man has to balance his need and greed.
