Total Darkness. Sirens wailing, and echoing in the distance.
People screaming. Incomprehensible shouting.
Woman
(Whimpering)
You dont need to kill me. Please.
There is a scream, a whimper, then silence.
VOICE
(On radio, repeating)
Citizens, please remain calm, and
return to your homes.
The Voice is drowned out by the sound of a faulty police
siren
MAN
Wheres my son? What have you done
to my little boy?
Gunshots are heard on the radio.
FEMALE VOICE
(On Speaker)
You have been granted permission
under martial law to shoot at will.
Shoot to kill permissions granted.
Moving over the scene we see it is a dark room, a police
uniform on a ragged bed with a radio inside. We pull further
out of the scene.
EXT. STREET - DAY
People are running. Families running screaming, the ground is
littered with dead bodies, and guns.
It continues to pull further away from the scene
EXT. SKYLINE - DAY
Several buildings are burning, planes flying overhead, there
is an awful crashing sound. An explosion. We pull further
away from the scene. Voices still heard on the radio, yet
becoming an incoherent chatter. A voice comes through.
OFFICER
How the hell have they been able to
access secured locations?
POLICE OFFICER
(Out of breath)
I need reinforcements on 15th! We
cant hold them out, theyre live
IEDS all over the street, we need
the undersec down here right now!
We have nothing we can use!
The screaming and gunfire intensifies.
EXT. SPACE - CONTINUOUS
We see the planet in space, several continents burning.
MAN #2
(On Radio)
The Doctor. It was the Doctor. He
promised.
CUT TO:
Intro
INT. TARDIS
CLARA
Take me home.
A beat.
DOCTOR
Home?
The Doctor, pressing buttons on the Tardis, slowly turns
around to look at Clara. Looks at her hard.
DOCTOR (CONTD)
Ok. Home.
The Doctor presses TARDIS, which materializes.
EXT. Claras Home - DAY
CLARA
Sorry Im just-
DOCTOR
Its fine. I get it.

CLARA
(Sighs of relief)
Thank you. No questions?
DOCTOR
No questions.
Clara moves towards the Doctor and kisses him on cheek.
DOCTOR (CONTD)
Everyone needs a break sometime.
Clara walks towards TARDIS door
DOCTOR (CONTD)
Clara.
CLARA
Yeah?
There is a long pause, the Doctor stares coldly at Clara,
analyzing her.
DOCTOR
Nothing, nothing enjoy yourself.
Clara goes to the Tardis door, then turns around.
CLARA
(Laughing)
Youll probably see me again in a
few minutes.
DOCTOR
Goodbye Clara.
Clara runs up to the Doctor and kisses him on the cheek, then
leaves. The Doctor stands, confused, he then walks to TARDIS
mainframe, and materializes at Claras house. The Clock
displaying the date 13/07/15 He looks at the Monitor
watching Clara walk up the street with flowers, he leaves the
TARDIS and begins to follow Clara.
EXT. STREET - DAY
The Doctor is trailing Clara, yet remaining a measurable
distance behind.

EXT. MAIN ROAD - MOMENTS LATER
Clara looks toward the Traffic Light which turns green, she
then crosses the Road, leading to the Hospital.
EXT. CAR PARK - MOMENTS LATER
Clara walks from the Car Park into the Hospital. The Doctor
now weaving through Cars to prevent being seen.
INT. HOSPITAL - DAY
Clara walks up to the Hospital and Checks in.
CLARA
Hello, Im Clara Oswald, I was
scheduled for a visit this
afternoon.
(Checks Watch)
I think I may be a bit late
NURSE
Ok, thank you Clara, you can go
right through, take the stairs on
the left, second floor, then just
ask one of the staff that will
point you to where you need to go?
CLARA
Ok thanks.
Clara walks towards the stairs, the Doctor walks towards the
lift, pressing the button for the Lift, it arrives and a
group of six people appear inside. He walks in, squeezing his
way through.
INT. LIFT - DAY
MAN
What floor you going?
DOCTOR
Er..second.
The Man presses the button on the lift numbered 2, the
Doctor stands nervously, stuck in the middle of the group of
people, one Woman coughs, another sneezes, the lift comes to
a halt, then after a long pause opens, the Doctor quickly
walking out.

DOCTOR (CONTD)
(Squeling)
Thanks
INT. HOSPITAL WARD - MOMENTS LATER
The Doctor walks briskly, there is a hand sanitizer on the
wall which he rushes to, pumping it vigorously and cleaning
his hands, he then leans against the entrance door of the
ward looking through the window. It is Clara, he can only see
her but she is without a doubt talking to someone.
She takes her flowers and places them down smiling, we do not
hear what they are saying, but Clara is seen laughing, then
frowning, she then smiles again, moves in and hugs the
patient, then walks towards the Ward Door, the Doctor quickly
walks back towards the lift, just as the Door swings open,
Clara puts her face against the wall and cries quietly, the
Doctor popping his head out slightly.
CLARA
You followed me. You can come come
out, I know youre there.
The Doctor reveals himself, and walks up to Clara.
CLARA (CONTD)
You couldnt resist could you?
DOCTOR
I knew something was wrong.
CLARA
So what? I said I was fine Couldnt
you just leave me? Just for five
minutes?!
The Doctor leans in and hugs Clara
DOCTOR
(Whispering)
Im sorry
INT. TARDIS - LATER
DOCTOR
Youre not gonna tell me whats
wrong?
CLARA
I dont want to.

DOCTOR
Fine.
CLARA
A beat
CLARA (CONTD)
Doctor, just curious, the TARDIS,
could you use it to-
DOCTOR
(Firmly)
See if your aunt makes it or not.
CLARA
How did you know?
DOCTOR
The receptionist was feeling
chatty.
CLARA
Then lets do it.
DOCTOR
No.
CLARA
Why?
DOCTOR
Thats not fair, on you or on her.
CLARA
But, Doctor just a peak, just to
see if maybe she-
DOCTOR
No.
CLARA
So thats how it works?
DOCTOR
Thats how it works. Trust me,
foreknowledge in this case, is
never a good thing. Especially when
youre dealing with Time Travel.

The Doctor goes activates the TARDIS controls. The TARDIS
monitor flickers violently, then displays SIGNAL ACQUIRED
voices come out from the monitor, screams, and then a man.
MAN
(On Radio)
(Faded)
Doctor. It was the Doctor. Doctor.
CLARA
Doctor, whats that?
DOCTOR
No idea. Maybe I can trace it.
The Doctor gets sonic screwdriver and presses it towards the
monitor.
The TARDIS jolts into life, the cloister ringing,
materializing. It stops. The Doctor stares at the monitor,
then slowly approaches the TARDIS door, opening it slowly.
DOCTOR (CONTD)
(Looking at Clara)
Its ok, come and look.
Clara walks up to the Doctor, looking out at the Planet
below.
The Doctor walks back to TARDIS mainframe, and places
Screwdriver into the TARDIS. Clara looks towards the Doctor,
confused.
DOCTOR (CONTD)
The TARDIS is having trouble
locating where we are in time, so
its using Local background
radiation to give us a rough date,
give or take a few years.
CLARA
Thanks teach.
TARDIS makes sound of confirmation
DOCTOR
Ah, good.
CLARA
So where are then?

DOCTOR
30,000 years from present day
Earth.
(Smiles)

EXT. SPACE- MOMENTS LATER
Clara and the Doctor look down at Pangea, a silver planet.
CLARA
Thats amazing.
DOCTOR
Ive been here before, it was just
Gas and Rock back then and half the
Stars were too. Clara, welcome to
Pangea, the first ever planet.
EXT. PANGEA- CHURCH - AFTERNOON
The Tardis Materializes quietly, the Doctor and Clara step
out, into a relatively small derelict, a seemingly empty
church building and a house.
DOCTOR
Wait a minute.
The Doctor sees a man on the street, walking, and approaches
him.
DOCTOR (CONTD)
Hello there.
The Man speaks, but it is garbled.
DOCTOR (CONTD)
Ok, so the TARDIS isnt
translating. Now whys that then?
INT. TARDIS- MOMENTS LATER
The Doctor walks into the TARDIS and looks at console
monitor, scratching his head.

EXT. STREET
Clara notices a child walks out of a house, the door slamming
violently, she walks up to the child.
CLARA
Hello.
THOMAS
Hello miss.
She looks behind to DOCTOR
CLARA
(Looks behind to Doctor)
Doctor, its translating. Whats
your name?
THOMAS
Thomas mam.
CLARA
Hello Thomas, my names Clara.
THOMAS
Hello Clara.
Clara smiles, the Doctor walks back.
DOCTOR
I think she needs some new
batteries. Oh.
CLARA
This is Thomas, Doctor.
THOMAS
Whos the Doctor?
CLARA
(Pointing to Doctor)
Hes the Doctor.
DOCTOR
(Shaking Hands with
Thomas)
Hello Thomas, how are you?
THOMAS
(Nervously)
Im very well sir.
There is an uproar in the distance, and the faint, hollow
shrill of gunfire, and people shouting.

DOCTOR
Whats that?
THOMAS
We should hide. Im not allowed to
be here right now, and you
shouldnt be too, you know that.
CLARA
I dont think we do. Were erm...
THOMAS
Foreigners?
CLARA
Oh, er... Yeah
(Laughs)
Were foreigners, but hes more
foreign than me.
DOCTOR
Howd you know?
THOMAS
Those clothes are silly.
DOCTOR
Oh, I always thought it was quite
inconspicuous.
CLARA
I dont look silly do I?
THOMAS
Er.
Clara laughs
Thomas walks to the nearby church, there is the shed, he
walks in gesturing for Clara and the Doctor to walk in.
THOMAS (CONTD)
Come in, hurry up.
INT. SHED-DAY
The child closes the shed and covers eyes laughing, the
Doctor looks at the child quizzically, there is suddenly the
sound of a car passing by, the Doctor looks through one of
the gaps in the shed, a Man is standing by the TARDIS
fascinated, he attempts to open it, The Doctor moves forward
toward the shed door. Clara pushes the Doctors arm.

CLARA
(Whispering)
What are you doing?
The Doctor walks out.
EXT. STREET - MOMENTS LATER
DOCTOR
Now, Im no mechanic, but I think
you need a key for that.
REBEL
Who the hell do you think you are?
DOCTOR
Just the Doctor
The Rebel gasps, startled.
REBEL
(Relieved)
Doctor. The Doctor?
DOCTOR
Yep, and Im also not a fan of
guns.
REBEL
(Puts down gun on ground)
Sorry.
Clara steps out, Thomas following her.
REBEL (CONTD)
(Looking at Clara)
Its okay, I wont hurt you, dont
worry.
The Rebel checks his watch.
REBEL (CONTD)
Ok. Im presuming you dont know
who I am.
The Doctor doesnt respond, clueless.
REBEL (CONTD)
You really missed the mark didnt
you?
(MORE)

Not now, oh why did you have to
come now, I suppose whats done is
done.
Another car comes down the street slowly.
REBEL (CONTD)
Right, just hear me out, even if I
sounds like Im talking rubbish.
But I promised to tell you. Both of
you are going to need to go North,
to the transit, its about two
miles from here, you wont miss it
youll take a train to the main
city, you should be able to find
your way from there.
DOCTOR
Find my way where?
REBEL
The Council.
DOCTOR
And why would I want to be going
there?
REBEL
You got a signal didnt you? Look I
know a lot of it doesnt make sense-
DOCTOR
Im used to it.
REBEL
Good. Also, dont tell anyone your
names. Not until you get to the
there.
CLARA
Why?
DOCTOR
Clara we dont have time.
CLARA
But how can you trust him?
DOCTOR
Because he dropped his gun.
The Car pulls over by the curb.
REBEL (CONTD)

REBEL
Great.
INT. CAR - MOMENTS LATER
MAN IN CAR
Thats him.
Several men walks outside of the car with guns.
EXT. STREET - MOMENTS LATER
MAN
Ok, now go. RUN!
Clara, the Doctor, and Thomas start running towards fields
past the Church, that leads to a forest, the car comes to a
halt, and several men rush out.
REBEL LEADER
Lets not make a scene of this.
REBEL #2
But sir, theres a little boy.
The Rebel Leader looks coldly at REBEL #2 the rebels run off,
the Rebel leader walks up to Revel #1 Rebel#1 puts up hand in
prayer.
REBEL
Im sorry
The Rebel Leader takes out his revolver and shoots Rebel #1
EXT. FOREST - DAY
Clara the Doctor and Thomas are running together, Clara and
the Doctor at first serious, Clara notably, is breathing very
heavily, the child begins laughing, Clara smiles, then Thomas
does, and so does the Doctor. Thomas begins running ahead.
CLARA
(Heavy Breathing)
Slow, slow down.
From Thomas POV he is by the hub, behind a few trees, small
domes, with queues outside, citizens stnading with suitcases,
or small children, Thomas gleams, excited.

THOMAS
Were here. Come on!
(Laughing)
Clara and the Doctor catch up with Thomas, who has run
straight into the transit area, the Doctor follows, and Clara
stands by a tree, catching her breath.
EXT. TRANSIT - MOMENTS LATER
DOCTOR
Have you been here before Thomas?
THOMAS
All the time.
DOCTOR
Right.
The Doctor looks and sees one of the Domes named Transport
He walks up into the Dome, pushing past several people in the
queue as he does so.
MAN IN QUEUE
Hey watch it!
INT. DOME - MOMENTS LATER
Inside the dome there is a large stand, a lady stamping at
documents.
DOCTOR
Excuse me?
The Receptionist turns to face Doctor.
RECEPTIONIST
Hello there sir, what can I do for
you?
DOCTOR
Hello, weve come to seek entrance
to the city.
RECEPTIONIST
Ok sir, Ill just have to ask you a
few questions.
DOCTOR
Ok.

RECEPTIONIST
Name?
DOCTOR
John Smith.
RECEPTIONIST
And whats your Income sir ?
The Doctor looks around, one poster says unemployed and
looking for work
DOCTOR
Im unemployed.
The Receptionist gives a condescending stare, then tuts.
RECEPTIONIST
Accommodation?
DOCTOR
Mobile home.
RECEPTIONIST
Ok, and is he your son?
DOCTOR
Erm..
Thomas nods
DOCTOR (CONTD)
Yes.
RECEPTIONIST
Deceased?
DOCTOR
scuse me?
RECEPTIONIST
Is your son deceased?
(Looking at Thomas)
DOCTOR
Of course not, hes right here.=
The Receptionist sighs, then stamps on paper.
RECEPTIONIST
Ok thank you very much sir, you can
take a seat, and the next bus will
be here in the next hour.

DOCTOR
Great, I can read a magazine.
The Doctor sits down, Clara enters the room exasperated, and
Thomas sits on a chair.
CLARA
What we waiting for?
DOCTOR
Bus. So for now, we can sit, and
talk.
CLARA
Im too tired to talk.
DOCTOR
Have a nap then.
CLARA
What in here?
DOCTOR
Yeah.
Clara, laughs, and shakes her head.
THOMAS
You two bicker a lot.
DOCTOR
Force of habit Im afraid.
THOMAS
Its funny.
(Thomas laughs)
INT. TRANSIT - LATER
Clara is slouched on the chair sleeping, the Doctor is
walking around the transit room, then comes back to the chair
and sits down in front of Thomas, the Radio is playing, yet
quietly.
RADIO
Government reports that crime rates
in the undercity are at an all time
low, people claiming that its due
to the radical new scheme
introduced by the Mayor to clean up
crime the slums in the city
suburbs.

Gang violence, and theft have seen
a drastic turnaround, from 60% to
30% in most affected areas, yet
public surveys indicate that this
is still not enough for many people
to travel through the undercity.
EXT. TRANSIT CAR PARK
A Bus pulls up from the road, its seats empty, the driver
honks the horn.
DOCTOR
Thatll be our transport. Clara,
wake up.
Clara moans, then get up, drowsy.
CLARA
Five more minutes.
DOCTOR
No. Get up.
The Doctor slaps Clara on the head.

Clara is startled
DOCTOR (CONTD)

wouldnt have happened.
Clara doesnt respond.
DOCTOR (CONTD)
Theyre my responsibility now.
CLARA
Doctor, just tell me something, lie
to me, anything.
The Doctor doesnt respond
CLARA (CONTD)
You cant leave me like this.
A long pause, the Doctor stares at Clara sympathetically.
DOCTOR
You had two visits, didnt you? For
your Grandmother. Well, lets go
and show her something.
CLARA
This was not your fault, you cant
put this burden on yourself. We
move on, whatever happened we get
past, we acknowledge, and we move
on.
CLARA (CONTD)
Well, its certainly not
DOCTOR
All of this was abandoned a long
time ago.
The Doctor walks up to store, it has the banner CLOSED, be
back in five minutes

CLARA
What do you think youre gonna tell
them? When you get there.
DOCTOR
Ill have to convince them, Ill
have to show them thats the only
way theyll listen.
Thomas is by a arcade store, pressing his breath against a
window, and wiping it, sees it empty, then sighs.
THOMAS
Yunno, if I had a lotta money, Id
make my own Arcade shop where
everyone could come and play, and I
wouldnt charge a thing.
DOCTOR
Thats very altruistic of you
Thomas.
THOMAS
Do you have a lot of money Doctor?
DOCTOR
No, Oh God No, far from it, the
only accommodation I have is about
the width of a cardboard box.
THOMAS
What if you did?
DOCTOR
Well I think Id give it away. I
dont really have much of a use of
it. Id probably share it with as
much people as possible.
THOMAS
What about you Clara?
CLARA
Well..Id do the same as him I
think.
THOMAS
Thats funny.
CLARA
Why?

THOMAS
My mum and dad said theyd keep it.
Say its too good to go to waste.
Possible rewerite for first scene, instead of whole talk to
rebel the Doctor finds a map, and the child.
EXT. PANGEA- MOMENTS LATER
The Doctor walks out of the TARDIS, its a ghost town, one
house and a church locked down with wooden panels, the Doctor
sees
DOCTOR
Hello. My name is the Doctor.
CYBERWOMAN
Doctor. Hello Doctor.
DOCTOR
Whats your name?
CYBERWOMAN
Why would I have a name? Im a
soldier.
DOCTOR
Then, what was your name?
CYBERWOMAN
Clementine.
DOCTOR
Clementine. Tell me clementine, do
you know why youre here.
CYBERWOMAN
Thats not important.
DOCTOR
Whys it not important?
CYBERWOMAN
Me knowing doesnt benefit
anything.
DOCTOR
Then what do you know?

DOCTOR
And nothing else?
CYBERWOMAN
Nothing else is important.
DOCTOR
Ok. Thats a start. Do you know
what you are?
CYBERWOMAN
(Laughs)
Why do you treat me so innocently?
Im a soldier. Born and bred here,
by these people.
DOCTOR
Fine, youre s soldier. What are
your commands.
CYBERWOMAN
I dont have commands.
DOCTOR
