a joy to teach your children! Thank you so much for the opportunity. They are amazing students and are doing such a great job! This month we will be talking about bats and learning how they use echolocation to find prey, as well as, their sense of smell to find their babies. We will also be discussing fire safety and fire prevention. This is a very important topic that I hope you will reinforce at home. Next up will be Fall & Leaves. Hopefully the beautiful leaves hang on until we can explore them! Then we will move on to learning about pumpkins while using our Five Senses for exploration. Lastly we will read some spooky stories and have some coordinating activities. We will also celebrate Halloween with some fun games and crafts. It should be an amazing month! October News Important Dates Odds and Ends In the Handwriting Without Tears program the children are instructed to start their letters at the top. When they make a stroke and need to go back to the top, we call that a frog jump. In the letter formation information paper I gave you at the Open House you will find the correct sequence and terminology to use when helping your child form their letters. Please use this information to help your child practice writing their name. I will be sending home some name practice papers this month. Please also help to reinforce that our names only have one capital at the beginning.

We spend time each day talking about the sounds these letters make as well as how we form them. This month in the Math Center, students will be starting to write numerals 1-4 using the chalkboards and practice papers. We will also be working on connecting these numerals to quantities. This months character education topic is differences. Please help to reinforce the importance of accepting differences in others with your child.
