Every Indian has a dream and believes that India will soon emerge as a super power. To make this dream come
true, everyone wants to be a part of the process; be it by being a responsible citizen and electing representatives
or entering into the Government services. As far as Government Services are concerned, IAS is marked as A
category government service. IAS i.e. Indian Administrative Service is one of special services run under Indian
Government. It works internally such that the law & order functions smoothly without any hindrance. Right from
the inception of the constitution of India, IAS has been a much exaggerated career option for Indian youth. Even
today, jobs under IAS are considered of utmost esteem. This has been the prime reason that youth get enticed
towards this field. Every year, lacs of aspirants apply to get admission into IAS.
However, getting into IAS is not that easy. Aspirants have to go through its competitive exam i.e. CSE (Civil
Service Examination) held every year under the supervision of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This
exam also serves as a common aptitude test for other civil services like IFS, IPS, Group A and Group B central
services. Its one of the toughest exams that probably require more than one attempt to achieve success.

Eligibility for IAS Exam

a) Graduation in any stream from a recognized university in India
b) Applicants appearing for their final year degree exam are also eligible to apply.
c) Candidates with professional and technical qualifications recognized by the Government of India as equivalent
to professional and technical degree are eligible to apply.
d) Candidates who have passed final year of MBBS exam but are yet to complete internship can apply for the
prelim exam.



IAS Registration / Application Form
For applying IAS 2014, candidates can go with either online mode or offline mode. If candidate is interested in the
former mode, then he/she has to download the application form from the official website. Online application
includes two stages i.e. a) registration 1 b) registration 2.
Post submission of personal details, students will be asked to print the SBI bank challan on A4 size paper. The
printed pay slip needs to be used for payment of application fee.

In offline mode, Students can get the application form from any of the specified post offices through the country.
The cost of the application form in offline mode is Rs.30. Next, students have to fill the form, complete and send it
to the mentioned address before the last date.

IAS Syllabus
Syllabus for CSAT 2014: - The CSAT test will be divided into two sections i.e. General Awareness and English
Proficiency.
For General Awareness:- Current affairs at national and international level, History of India (Indian National
Movement), India and World Geography, Indian Constitution & Politics, Economic & Social Development and
General Science.
For English: - Reading Comprehensions, Grammar, Communication skills, Logical Reasoning and mental
ability.

Syllabus for Civil Service Mains: - There will be total nine papers for this exam. Initial two are qualifying papers,
of which one paper is one of the Indian languages and the second paper is English. Third one will be an essay
paper whereas fourth and fifth will be on General Studies. Next, candidates have to select two optional subjects.
Then, there will be two papers.

After the main exam, interview will be conducted of 300 marks.

Note: - The paper of Indian languages and English will be of matriculation level. All other papers will have
subjective type questions.
