Standard (FMVSS) 302 specify burn resistance requirements for materials used in the
occupant compartment of motor vehicles.
The purpose of standard 302 is to reduce death and injuries to motor vehicle occupants
caused be vehicle fires, especially those originating in the interior of the vehicle with sources
such as matches or cigarettes.
