Falcons win 10 as they win close one
against Pirates

Aukland,NZ- The Adelaide Falcons won their 10th game of the year to
become the surprise number three seed in the Play Offs. The 13-10
score line was unconvincing but in reality flattered the Pirates as
Adelaide cruised along for most of the game. The difference being the
improved play of the Falcons secondary and the errors committed by
Jharal Lelei who made some poor decisions and even worse throws.

The Falcons opened up the game right on top and two long drives
should have resulted in points. "I thought the team played hard today. I
was pretty pleased with the commitment. The coaching was a bit sub-
standard and I blame myself" said Coach Wayne Sing. He was talking
about the decision to go for it twice on 4th down and both times coming
up empty. "I wanted to take them out of the game early but instead
made it so much harder for ourselves".

The Falcons still scored first when Lelei threw a horrible ball down the
right and it was easily intercepted by Josh Wright. It lead to both sides
trading field goals and a 6-3 half time lead.

The Falcons increased that margin to 13-3 when Lelei was picked again
and by the time he threw his third interception Coach Shayne Boyd said
enough was enough and benched him for fan favourite Larry Keating.
Keating was proficient and showed his experience as he guided the
Pirates down the field. An 8 yard pass over the middle found Tight End
Matthew Marketo for the score and it seemed like game on.

But Adelaide showed what they do best and that is execute under
pressure. Andrew Mano completed a couple of three third downs and
ran out the game.
