Dear sd gurus good morning have a nice day
my doubt is in Material Master record in sales org 2 left side general item category here it
is maintained at clint side from mm here i am asking my doubt what is the use pl explain me

dear, when system is processing the sales document (with this particular material)
it takes this item categ. group into consideration (if it is set up in material master)

venu, it is use full of distribution Chanel depending , normal it is at basic data 1 view you have enter the general
item category group this is copied to at sales organisation 2 view general item category , it also help full in item
category determination ,
select the general item category and press F1, it comes what is field , so you better under stand ,

Hi
General item category & Item category group -as materials has been categorized normal, non stock able,
packaging groups, etc. System proposes the group of the material depending upon the material type that we have
chooses. The value of this field system will be taken into consideration to determine ITEM CATEGORY of line
item in the sales order. In addition to other values such as sales document type (that the end user enters) plus,
item category group (of the material: MM01) plus, usage (of the material) Ex: Standard, free, batch spilt, etc
plus, higher level item category.
