excitement and inspire individuals with deep research
interests and promote disciplined applied research in
academic institutions. It also provides an opportunity to the
participants to interact with experts from educational
institutions, industry and nancing organizations to set
sensible, actionable and workable roadmaps for future
generations.
Learn from internationally recognized specialists (scientists, engineers,
funding managers, policy-enablers) through interactive engagements
Understand the programmatic activities and entrepreneurial stories as
well as the challenges to big-science appropriate-technology academic-
industry interfaces
Present your latest ideas as a teaser-poster (or a possible speaking
engagement)
Network with the editors of at least three peer viewed journals, meet with
cross-border peers and grow your social-network (Linkedin) connections
Experience the latent socio-techno-economic potential of the East
Godavari District (with the Kakinada town-city as the hub) in your spare
time
The meeting is planned around FOUR major themes:
Marine biotechnology and natural products (Science and Technology)
Agricultural and aquaculture biotechnology (Science and Technology)
Industrial applications (Technology Transfer and Locally Rooted Entrepreneurship)
Enabling Environment (Public Policy, CRS, Institutional Linkages/Extensions, Civil
Society/NGOs, Lending/Funding Channels/Mechanisms, Innovative/Inclusive
Financing and Support)
The strategic objectives of the Conference are
To provide a platform for the best minds (academicians, technologists, researchers,
enablers and policy-makers) to present their vision, views, work and proposals.
A gathering for discussion on the best practices in implementation strategies.
An opportunity for thinkers (academicians), practitioners (technologists), investors
(funding specialists) and enablers (policy-makers) to explore new avenues in
revitalizing local economies and facilitate emerging prospects in commercializing
knowledge.
Envisage clear roadmaps for equitable and sustainable (open innovation)
entrepreneurial platforms

The FICMAB will showcase leading-edge developments in marine biotechnologies, from algal
biotechnologies to whole-organism biotechnologies and the application of marine genomics,
metagenomics and chemistry in biomedicine, bioprocessing and aquaculture.
This conference will emphasize Green Innovations (sustainable Best Technology Practices) to recognize,
rene, reuse, reinvent and reward technologies in agri-waste processing and zero-sum-carbon
approaches.
Identify and localize global best practices in innovative nancing/funding mechanisms will be of
signicance in the Conference deliberations.
Sustainable policies and practices will be all-pervasive throughout the conference.
(1) produce a 'white paper' report for the Policy Makers and Venture Finance Specialists to connect with
academicians and Entrepreneurs in terms of measurable project deliverables
(2) to enable a ONE SOURCE collaboration and communication platform between the Knowledge
Professionals and Products/Manufacturing Cluster Development.
The organizing committee of the Conference, as well as the sponsoring committees of the Industry , Civil
Societies and Government, are rmly convinced that region-specic and appropriate nurturing eco-
systems will accelerate the local area development, enhance the agro-marine biotechnology industry;
strengthen the fundamental and translational research activities, and especially catalyze ultra-rapid
evolution of technology based incubators and entrepreneurs.

Prot Organization, GKS will focus on creating local
entrepreneurship using local resources tightly integrated with
global knowledge channels (people, technologies, markets).
Godavari Knowledge Society, Kakinada (GKS) in alliance with
JNTUK, Kakinada has established the Godavari Knowledge
Park (A Technology Business Incubation Center) on Marine
and Agricultural Biotechnologies.
The GKS is headed & guided by eminent personalities like Hon
Justice S. N. Phukan (former Judge, Supreme Court of India),
ShriGopala Krishna, IAS (Rtd) former Additional Chief
Secretary, Govt. of AP; Chairman of Rural Electrication
Corporation, AP State Financial Corporation and founder
CMD of Godavari Fertilizers Limited, Kakinada, Shri PVA Rama
Rao (Former CMD of NABARD), Shri D. Surya Rao (Industrialist
and Chairman of Cocanada Chamber of Commerce) and Mr.
M. S. Shankara Prasad (an Entrepreneur-Innovator with 2
decades experience in the Chemical, Pharma& Biotech
Industry).
The park will have:
1. A core shared capital equipments facility
2. Competitively selected time-shared tenants
3. Support Ofces / Services
4. In-Park Information Resources
5. Technology transfer, Business/Market intelligence,
Business Hospitality, etc
Time-leased and Space-leased tenants, like a biotech R&D entrepreneurial unit,
will help in developing a larger base of biotech companies with its research base
and access to patient databases. The core-shared facility in turn, will have an
incubation centre and business facilitation centre to help create economic value.
Phase 1 will have ready-to-use 8-10 tech-lab modules totaling 15,000 sq feet
area to suit the requirements of tenants (with a common equipment facility).
The Park will also assist in recognizing land plots of varying sizes to build research
centers and pilot plants (technology transfer) and commercialization by the
graduated tenants. The in-house lab-technology units will be competitively
priced and lease agreements can be structured to suit individual client needs.
In Britain, a battle to spin great science into gold.
BY BEN HIRSCHLER AND KATE KELLAND
"The culture here used to be that universities produced pure
knowledge and then simply threw it out of the window for the rest
of world to do whatever it liked with," said Erkko Autio, professor
of technology venturing and entrepreneurship at Imperial
College London Business School. "The UK is improving but to be
successful in translating scientic advances into businesses you
need to have a compatible industrial base and over the past few
decades we have seen the erosion of that manufacturing base.
