TheCOM2CommunicationsCard plugsintotheITC
2001 Intelligent Transmission Cabinet Motherboard/
DAB7/CAM2700 CentralAudio Rack Motherboard.
When installed in the Intelligent Transmission Cabi
net, the COM2 communicates with all installed option
cards.TheCOM2 broadcaststatuschanges(Alarms
& Troubles)from anyoption cardonto thenetwork so
other nodes can act upon the information if required.
The COM2 uses Echelon

to communicate to other nodes in the system.
The COM2 contains the database configuration for
theIntelligentTransmissionCabinet/DAB7alongwith
its distributed Input/Output tables. When the COM2
receives an alarm message from another node or an
option card, it searches its distributed database for
anyoutputsrequiredtoturnon.TheCOM2thensends
commands to option cards to turn on their outputs.
This is done independent of the Fire Command Cen
ter(FCC)whichallowthisnodetobeatrulydistributed
intelligent node.
The COM2 Communication Card is also installed in
theCAM2700 Motherboard.Itcontains thedatabase
configuration and I/O tables for the Central Audio
Rack. When an alarm is broadcast on the network
from a node, The COM2 receives this message and
turns on the programmed tones or digital voice mes
sage.

The COM2 Communication Card is required to be
installed in the ITC2001/DAB7/CAM2700
Motherboard. In the ITC, the COM2 receives status
changes from option cards to broadcast on the net

and off their outputs. When the COM2 is installed in
theCentralAudioRack,itcontrolsthedigitaltonesand

CentralAudioMotherboard.Itshallcontaindatabaseconfigurationinformationforothercardsinstalledinthemotherboard.
The COM2 shall also contain Input/Output table information to allow it to be a distributed intelligent node. The COM2
shall be a microprocessor based card and communicate to other nodes via Echelon

Communications. In the
event of a microprocessor failure on the COM2, the Intelligent Transmission Cabinet/DAB7/CentralAudio Rack will
operate in a degraded mode operation allowing outputs and tones to turn on.
